Heading into a major Bradley turn date

Randall Ashbourne, an associate of Astrological Investing, posts reports and articles on his web site at  theidiotandthemoon.com   The following is this weekend's Eye of RA report: Week beginning March 30, 2015
The coming week, heading into various religious festivals, also brings the first significant Bradley Model turn date for 2015.

The Full Moon next weekend will be a lunar eclipse ... sister of the recent solar eclipse ... and the configuration will again trigger the broad implications of the long-running Uranus-Pluto square we've talked about many times in the past few years.

Uranus and Pluto have now completed exactitude of the square for the last time, but the "orb" of the aspect will continue to linger.

Jupiter, head honcho of the Old Gods, will also be strongly influential in the next few weeks, as it goes Direct and receives a trine from the Sun. Strong Jupiter periods tend to exaggerate either optimism or fear, so we can expect some explosive moves ... one way or the other.

The period finds Wall Street's SP500 index beginning to bump its highs against some major planetary resistance and it's that we'll spend a little time looking at in this edition.

There are also updates on the ASX 200, Germany's DAX and London's FTSE

About once a year, depending on the speed of rallies or downturns, the SP500 comes into contact with primary price lines from the inner planets ... the Sun, Mercury, Venus and Mars.

In our first chart, we'll look at how these tend to impact rally phases in the index. It's a weekly price chart showing only the Sun and Venus primary lines. Price tends to rise at an angle closely aligned to the annual movement of the planets.

Sometimes price stalls and goes sideways, until it picks up a boost from contact with the next set of rising price lines.

But, what goes up must come down, at least to some degree, and our next chart shows the Sun-Venus impact on the timing and speed of major downturns and significant Bear plunges.

Contact with these downtrend planetary price lines does not always produce a major downturn. But, when one is becoming due ...

Well, the impact can be dramatic.

In our third chart, I have included Mercury and Mars into the mix and we will take a close-up view to show the sort of danger the 500 now faces if it cannot burst above the resistance of the planetary downtrend lines. What it suggests is that Wall Street is now very close to hitting a major hurdle ... a set of planetary influences which almost always produce a multi-week correction.

Our next chart shows the more horizontal price lines of the outer planets and provides the major probable targets for rallies and declines. Regular readers will have become quite familiar with these and know they provide excellent Entry and Exit levels for trades ... if the oscillators on shorter-term charts are showing distinct potential for a trend turn.

Of the other major Western stock indices, Germany is the strongest. And just maybe too strong. Its northbound breakout in the past few months catapulted it above what should have been, based on historical behaviour, a strong resistance barrier.

And our Big Bird oscillator isn't really overjoyed by the move.

While the DAX has left its two previous Bull peaks way behind, the British market continues to struggle against the long-range planetary price lines which acted as a slaughter house for the earlier Bulls.

Allow a little leeway for the posted prices because they're "wavy" and exactitude depends entirely on timing for the monthly bars.

Australia is also faltering at a hurdle ... in the ASX 200's case, a double Fibonacci Retracement barrier. The index managed to break free of the doldrums in the past few months and put on a spurt.

There is some disagreement about exactly where the current blue Fibo Rx level lies because of data differences at the 2009 low ... but all levels of the blue lines displayed below have been important during the past few years and the data difference is not really major.

You'll note that on the chart above, the Big Bird oscillator is starting to sing off-key and that it is a double Fibonacci barrier.

Turning our attention to the ASX 200's Weekly Planets chart, we can note a primary Saturn barrier not far ahead at around 6050, with a Neptune level at 6082.

Weekly Big Bird is even more distinctly off-key than his monthly version as price battles to overcome the minor Saturn resistance around 5942.

And, yes, I've been terribly slack this year ... first time in years I've been able to enjoy the southern Summer and, literally, take some time out to smell the roses.

And they smell so much better than Pollyanna!

I will try to include the Indian/Asian indices in the next few weeks.

In the meantime, just keep a weather eye on the near-term charts, especially with the Bradley date approaching (all of which was covered in the Forecast in January) and as Pollyanna bumps her silly noggin against the inner planet downtrend lines.

Earth Wind & Fire rock markets

Randall Ashbourne, an associate of Astrological Investing, posts a weekly market report on his web site, theidiotandthemoon.com  The following is this weekend's Eye of RA report: Week beginning October 6, 2014
Like all good fireworks spectaculars, the cosmic energy explosion should hit a stunning climax this coming week.

The trigger is likely to be the lunar eclipse Full Moon in Aries happening on Wednesday.

It's conjunct Uranus, currently being trined by Mars in Sagittarius and Jupiter in Leo. That's already a lot of Fire sign energy and it's about to get a boost from the lunar eclipse Full Moon.

But wait ... there's more! The Sun and Venus are in Libra, squaring Pluto and opposing Uranus ... that long-running Uranus/Pluto square which we've discussed many times as the rebel forces going to war with the plutocrats determined to maintain control at any cost.

Libra is Cardinal Air ... it's the Wind, now fanning all that Fire energy into an global wildfire. Pluto is in Capricorn, the Cardinal Earth sign. "I have the power and no-one will take it from me!"

And on top of all that, Mercury has just gone Retrograde and will stay that way for most of October. Nothing anyone says should be believed or trusted ... because what they think they know is likely to be only part of the story.

As an astrology buff, it is fascinating watching all this unfold ... just in the past week alone. Student protestors take to the streets of Hong Kong, shutting down the government quarter. They're well-behaved, sitting down to do their homework when not manning the barricades, and putting up signs apologising for the inconvenience they're causing.

It is a beautiful mix of Uranus in Aries demanding social change, balanced by the good manners of the Sun and Venus in sociable Libra.

Of course, the plutocrats in control have no intention of giving up any of their power. Along come the triad gangs to provoke a bit of violence and instill some fear into the demonstrators. Pluto, in his natural underhanded scheming guise, working secretly to maintain the status quo that Capricorn is always obsessed with preserving.

But, there's an even bigger picture to all of this. Who stirred up the students? Do we think it just might have been those same secretive agents who stirred up trouble in Kiev? Is it coincidence that both Russia and China find themselves under "popular" protest right at the time they're making long-range smoochies with each other to thwart the political/economic power of the nation which considers itself the world's top cop?

Meanwhile, the top cop has put together a posse of sheriffs and deputies to unleash "firepower" ... Fire. Power. ... on the nutbags running around the desert displaying the very worst symbolism of Uranus in Aries, a combination of Fixed Air, where nothing new and useful enters the brain, and Cardinal Fire, which is armed aggression.

Astrology also tells us how this is all going to end, by the way.

But, but ... we did expect all these cosmic games to have a volatile impact on stock markets over these few weeks and a couple of weekends ago I published a series of charts for the exact price targets to watch on various world indices.

So, enough with the mystical mumbojumbo for the moment and let's have a little look.

First up is the SP500 which slipped out of Pollyanna mode into Chicken Little mode ... and made it down to the first Trine Target.

Toronto, too!

London's FTSE crashed through the previous week's boundary and broke another two before bouncing.

We discussed the FTSE's technical condition a few weeks back and noted a horizontal price consolidation happening with a weakening Big Bird oscillator. Not looking good for new Highs.

Pollyanna's primary planet prices are still in play ...

And the ASX200 continues to play with its Weekly Planet prices ...

Odd, non? Nevermind. The Old Gods have been around for a long time and humans have been studying them for thousands of years. See a sabre-tooth, run away, sit around staring at the night sky. Anyway, this Uranus-Pluto square thing we've been waffling on about for the past few years still has longer to run. The last "hit" doesn't occur until next year and, even then, the whole period ... in terms of "history" ... is usually only the start of a large-scale socio-economic upheaval.

Right now, we can't be certain who will "win". But, we do know who will NOT win. And all of you readers living between the Rio Grande and the Lakes might want to stop reading right now.

The fast-greying current temporary resident of that antebellum mansion at 1600 is destined to become one of the last emperors. This conflagration we're seeing unfold is the beginning of The End Times.

Like all empires, it doesn't want to die. But, the simple fact of astrological life is that Progressed Mars in the USA's birth chart turned Retrograde in 2006.

Symbolically, the USA's personal God of War no longer supports its outward ambitions. When it ends, we don't really know. Certainly, it will drag on for as long as Pluto remains in Capricorn.

How it ends is easier to see. It ends with a desperate last helicopter fleeing the roof of the US Embassy as opposition tanks crash through the gates ... it ends with Marines pushing helicopters and fighter jets overboard from the decks of the carriers as the ships turn back to the safety of the homeland.

And it's not that far away. And this time, it's global.

One swallow does not a summer make

Randall Ashbourne, an associate of Astrological Investing, posts a weekly market report on his web site, theidiotandthemoon.com  The following is this weekend's Eye of RA report: Week beginning April 7, 2014
And Friday's rather dramatic turnaround for Wall Street stocks ... and gold ... doesn't necessarily signal The Turn for either of them.

It is possible, for a whole range of reasons on both technical and astrological levels.

But we are dealing in both cases with markets that are heavily manipulated.

We have been discussing for some time, in the Eye and in Forecast 2014, the special danger posed by April ... and that danger has been growing because of the negative divergence building in the oscillators on weekly and monthly charts.

We'll concentrate this weekend on trying to work out whether this is just another part of the big boys' game, or whether the tide has finally turned.

Normally, I do not give too much weight to a single day's trading. But, if this one is a real "false break", it could be the start of a major downswing that could get very ugly for those caught unprepared.

We'll deal firstly with something I warned about in Forecast 2014 and have discussed specifically a couple of times in the Eye this year, including only last weekend.

We looked last weekend at last week's Sun transits to Jupiter, Uranus and Pluto as a possible precursor to what might happen later in April when Mars, Jupiter, Uranus and Pluto align in a Cardinal Grand Square. You might want to refresh your memory by reading last weekend's edition again.

There is a chance that those Sun transits have acted as a "trigger". So, let's begin this weekend by looking at the bigger transits, the major component of which is Jupiter in Cancer opposing Pluto in Capricorn while squaring Uranus in Aries.

The first chart is a multi-decade view of the SP500 with Jupiter square Uranus marked in red bars, Jupiter trine Uranus marked in green bars, and Jupiter opposed Pluto in blue bars.

As I've indicated before ... these are dangerous. In one guise or another they were there leading into the 1987 flash crash and again at the two previous Bull market peaks.

We can zero-in on the next chart to get a closer view. We are now in the month of Jupiter's third and final "hit" of squaring Uranus AND it concides with an opposition to Pluto. In 2000, the Bear had started to bite with the red square to Uranus and then the real mauling began with the first of the blue oppositions to Pluto.

The third hit of the square to Uranus in 2007 brought the Bull top and a rapid Bear mauling. Now we have the same aspects again.

On top of those omens, we have what might be a "false break". This is when price temporarily breaks through an important barrier and goes into a sudden and largely unexpected reversal. False breaks always provoke very fast moves in the opposite direction. A number of times this year we've discussed the real trouble Pollyanna was having trying to break free of an overhead primary Pluto barrier on her daily charts.

Last Tuesday, the overnight computers went to work - forcing a gap Open on the index to get it above that barrier. But, it didn't last.

And that's what makes Friday's action ... a new, all-time High, followed by a fast and dramatic reversal ... so dangerous. Because, that Pluto line is an important long-range barrier, not just a daily hurdle.

The two previous Bull peaks also occurred at a long-range Pluto line. Trace backwards the one marked with the $1518 price tag and you'll see what I mean.

The upshot of all this is basically what I said in last weekend's headline ... April may be "it". Let's not get married to the idea to the exclusion of all else.

It is, so far, just a single day's trade. But, if this is a real false break, the stock markets could turn really ugly, really fast.

On the flip side, gold has turned northwards within the fairly narrow price range we anticipated should bring about a bounce. All of the big picture stuff is in the special gold report I sent out a couple of weeks ago.

You know I was expecting a down move to retest the validity of the rising primary Sun line - and that, too, is in last weekend's edition.

Here is the update.

We talked about a potential hit of the $1273 level, the intersection of a secondary Pluto horizontal with the rising Sun line. And I also said: "There is no guarantee it will be hit, however, since Friday bounced from another "obvious" level - the 50% retracement marker of the post-December rally. This could be an important level, and if it can hold, leaves gold in a position to mount another strong rally leg."

 And here's what happened.

The 50% retracement level was broken by only a small amount and only relatively briefly. It is another example of what happens with a "false break".

As I said last weekend, the 3 Birds in the oscillator panel were signalling a potential turnaround in the gold price and that the Birds were already stacked in approaching rally mode for a lot of individual gold mining stocks. And now they're stacked that way for gold itself.

It's too early to say with any real degree of certainty that the long-range tides have turned for both stocks and gold. But the evidence for exactly that scenario has been building for quite some time - and much moreso on stock indices other than those on Wall Street.

Individually, we need now to check the charts - monthly, weekly and daily - on all the stocks we are holding.

And we need to remember the very first rule of survival: Always protect your capital.

Bounceback potential in stocks and gold

Randall Ashbourne, an associate of Astrological Investing, posts a weekly market report on his web site, theidiotandthemoon.com The following is this weekend's Eye of RA report: Week beginning June 24, 2013

Bounceback potential in stocks and gold

World stock indices and the price of gold are hitting, or are very close to hitting, prices which have the potential to produce a bounceback.

However, the situation overall remains dangerous and complex as both technical conditions and the astrological weather deteriorate.

We have a lot to consider this weekend; most especially whether we are now in the early stages of a developing Bear market in stocks.

But we will begin by reviewing where we are in terms of the correction which started, for most indices, late in May. I indicated then that: "There's a strong chance stock markets have gone into correction mode likely to last for several weeks."

For the past few weekends, as we tracked the decline in European and Asian indices, I've also indicated: "At a glance, the correction on Wall Street still seems to be too shallow, in terms of both Price and Time, to be realistic - especially considering the rapid, steep declines in most other major indices."

And I said last weekend: "Jupiter energy takes centre stage this week, when the fires of optimism will be stoked again ... or the fear will be."

We got the fear mode, which finally produced a Wall Street decline which is much more realistic in terms of an intermediate correction.

It now may be nearing bounceback levels. I would prefer to see a low form in the SP500 in the price range from 1570 to 1540, since the decline still seems a little short of the mark.

However, some of the other world indices are starting to display positive divergence sufficient enough to produce at least a bounce.

But the astrological weather ahead in the next few weeks is full of turmoil ... and we have reached a major Bradley Model turn date. I will leave discussion of The Spooky Stuff until later in this edition.

Since it's the easiest to deal with, we'll begin with a quick look at gold. Long-range, it has hit an important Fibonacci Retracement level.
click for larger image
Purely from a technical perspective, this is a normal retracement which, if it holds, keeps the long-term uptrend in a strong position. And it should hold, at least for a relatively strong bounce. The danger is that the long-range oscillator continues its deep dive.

From a planetary perspective, gold has lost the primary Pluto line at 1360 and a primary Sun line - with last week's drop taking price down to a secondary Pluto level. The potential good news is that not only has it now hit a long-range FiboRx price, but it has dipped into Pluto prices with a third instance of positive divergence in the oscillator, though it is mild divergence rather than strident.
click for larger image
There is one other factor which could help to produce a bounce ... Heliocentric Mercury goes into Sagittarius this weekend for a brief visit into early July. It's a position which frequently causes a gold rally. It's not a certainty, but as we can see from the weekly gold price chart below, it does tend to have an impact.
click for larger image
Now let's turn our attention to Pollyanna, the SP500. Well, Polly actually ran screaming from the stage last week for a Chicken Little revival. As usual, Wall Street was more than a day late and a lot more than a dollar short in doing what everyone else was sure of weeks ago.

There is a reason I call the SP500 Pollyanna ... or The Vacuous Troll. However, reality finally dawned that Benign Ben isn't going to drop money from helicopters in QE4ever.

The index finally dropped out of the uptrend channel which has defined the rally since it launched late last year. The drop has taken it down into a potential Full Moon low, which is a statistical tendency. The only thing that concerns me is I'd have preferred to see it hit price levels from 1570 to 1540.
click for larger image
Now let's look at the index in terms of the wider rally channel in play since the bottom of the Bear crash in 2009. While it has lost the intermediate-term rally angle, it came to rest at the end of the week with a little bounce from one of the long-term channel markers.
click for larger image
The bad news is that the long-range Canary, the Big Bird, has dipped below the upper red line in the oscillator panel, which is a clear warning the inner technical strength of the Bull run is starting to fade again.

Now I have been indicating since late May that I thought this was going to be an intermediate-length correction, lasting probably 5 to 8 weeks. There is a chance it is something much worse. However, there are no major warning signs on the monthly charts, so I'm still leaning towards the optimistic outcome ... which is that this is the last major correction before the final, the last, rally of this Bull run.

But ... two things. Firstly, the combined impact of Neptune going Retrograde and last week's Sun-Jupiter conjunction. They're marked on Pollyanna's long-range monthly chart below with blue bars for Sun-Jupiter conjunctions and red bars for Neptune Rx.

And they have a nasty habit of showing up at important turning points!
click for larger image
And we also have the Bradley Model suggesting a major trend change. I dealt with the Bradley Model at some length in the June 3 Eye of Ra (click here), or you can access via the Archives button on my web site. (http://www.theidiotandthemoon.com/index.html)

I repeat the warning: It is the dates which are important, not the direction nor the amplititude of the swing.

The next trend change dates for this year don't occur until early September and early October.
click for larger image
Okay, now let's discuss The Spooky Stuff - because the astrological weather is full of change in the next few weeks.

Jupiter changes signs into Cancer this week ... Venus goes into Leo, where she throws off the dowdy house frock, gets a new "do" and piles on the bling ... and Mercury the brat mischief maker goes Retrograde.

We have discussed Mercury Rx many, many times. And here we go again. DOUBLE-check EVERYTHING you do for the next few weeks to make sure you are actually doing what you intended to do!

Before you hit the Buy or Sell button, pause ... consciously think ... double-check that you WANT to Buy or Sell. You have a stronger than usual chance of hitting the wrong button. But ... ONLY if you're being inattentive! This is not the world out to "get" you. It's you!

Now, it is true that data feeds go awry for a couple of days around the Rx and Direct dates; it is true that emails go missing; it is true that computers do the damndest things.

And it is also true ... more often than not ... that markets will start a trend around the Rx date which reverses course halfway through the Rx phase ... and then arrive at the Direct date a few weeks later with prices pretty much within a per cent or so of where the whole silly phase started.

So, Mercury is Rx from June 26 to July 20. Just pay attention!

Jupiter's shift into Cancer should accelerate sector rotation ... that is, money will flow out of stock sectors which have been popular over the past year or so and into different sectors. I discussed this in the May 13 edition.

It also puts the planet of expansion on track to make a Grand Trine, which is the most benevolent of all astrological aspects, with Neptune in Pisces and Saturn in Scorpio. Neptune rules Pisces, so is in a good mood; Jupiter is exalted in Cancer, so he is reasonably benign; and Saturn in Scorpio is associated historically with strong stock market rallies.

The aspect becomes exact in mid-July. We will need to watch the performance of stock indices very closely then, because a Grand Trine is a very powerful aspect likely to produce an important high or low.

Okay then ... let's recap. Most of the world stock indices behaved themselves ... launching into a strong, intermediate correction in late May. The Vacuous Troll kept dancing to the old Benny and the Feds soundtrack, but also finally faced reality. Apart from Polly, most indices have already hit - and in some cases re-tested - potential bounce levels.

We have a Murky Wrecks period fast approaching, which have a tendency to start a short-term trend change which reverses course halfway through. Helio Merc is going into Sadge and Geo Venus is going into Leo, both of which have a reasonably strong tendency to be good for a gold rally ... as the metal hits a long-range Fibo Rx level, with some intermediate-term positive divergence.

So, I think we have the potential for a good bounce in both gold and stocks getting underway this week. It's probably not going to be long-lasting for either of them ... and over the longer-term, warning sirens are starting to wind-up for stock markets.
