Euro vs Dollar

Financial Astrology forces you to think in terms of supply and demand. Jupiter increases supply and when it makes an aspect to the planet, supply trends to abundance. Therefore the price goes down. Saturn causes supply to decrease and therefore the price increases.

When the Euro became the official currency of Europe all of the Financial Astrologers immediately added the chart to their collection. At the time we thought it was a pretty good chart for a currency and hoped the Euro concept would help traveling in Europe. The Moon in the 9th house made a sextile to Saturn therefore it seemed the traveling public would appreciate the stability of a single currency. Jupiter in its ruling sign of Pisces also gave it a portion of good will among the other world currencies. With an accurate chart for the Euro it has been easier to check the other currencies, but it has just been the past few years that I have studied the currency markets enough to see how they are really working. Questions from our readers have helped me focus on the charts.

Currency Requires Contrarian Thinking
Saturn brings up the price of currency and Jupiter brings down the price. How did that happen?
Jupiter produces abundant supply and Saturn is the planet of contraction in Financial Astrology. That means lower the supply of something the higher the price and the higher supply of something the the lower the price.

Here is how you have to think when looking at currency charts. Therefore Sept. 12, 2009 Saturn was square the Euro Moon and it cost $1.46 to buy a Euro. Nov. 30 Saturn was conjunct the euro asc and it went to a high of 1.52. At the same time the US dollar had Jupiter and Neptune conjunct its natal Pluto. There were to many dollars and Neptune (oil) confused their value. In January the Euro began its slide down with Jupiter sextile Saturn and then trine the MC only to stabilize at $1.33 in April with its first Jupiter return. Simultaneously the dollar had Saturn trine Saturn and then square Jupiter keeping its supply fairly reasonable.
Euro vs Dollar Summer 2010

The dollar has a run of square aspects from May through September. It does have Jupiter square Jupiter May 26 and September 21 which could increase the supply a little bit. The Euro will increase in supply until Saturn makes a conjunction to its Ascendent in late August and then squares its Sun in October.

Prognosis ?
More Dollars and more Euro's means the price of your Big Mac will increase whether you live in Europe or the USA. The question is will your wages increase? In 1959 I had a minimum wage job and it took me a half hour to earn 57 cents to buy a Big Mac. My grandson has to work 40 minutes at his minimum wage job to buy one for $4.29.
The problem is making wise investments that will keep up with inflation. You might like to sign up for classes in Financial Astrology.

Be Prepared: Jupiter conjunct Uranus

June 8, 2010, September 19, 2010, and January 4, 2011 Jupiter and Uranus are conjunct.

The conjunction usually signals a rise to a high in the market. This phenomena occurred in 1997 or about 13 years ago. If you had purchased GE, Honeywell or DIA you would have doubled you money and collected a few dividends. No big deal, right?

However during the 13 years since the last conjunction Jupiter made a bunch of aspects to Uranus and even more to his good buddies Saturn and Neptune. You probably would have put firm stops on these stocks in May 2000 when Jupiter and Saturn made a conjunction.

The study of Financial Astrology is about finding an excellent time to buy, sell or hold. It is for folks who like to make their own decisions, read technical charts, study the past performance of a company and then invest.

Be Prepared: Buy the Textbook for Financial Astrology and sign up for classes

There are 7500 stocks on the New York exchange and thousands more around the world. Some are excellent this year and others are struggling and maybe they will be next year's bargain. Often the date the company was incorporated and then offered as an IPO will give you a clue as to their current situation. If you learn to read these charts, you can avoid being caught in the hype of a website article or a broker with a vested interest.

On a personal level astrology can tell you when you will have a difficult year or a joyous one. It can do the same for companies.

What Do the Textbooks Teach?

I finished writing the three sections on the E Book for Textbook for Financial Astrology in 2002. I wrote it for my students, therefore the lessons move from simple to complex. Each lesson has questions at the end giving the student the opportunity to practice that particular concept. Most of my students were able to complete the first three books and develop their skills at buying stocks as an investment.
A few have their own websites and share their knowledge and experience. The Textbooks explain how you take the first steps in the process of learning Financial Astrology. By the time you finish you should be able to read a chart and start making intelligent investment decisions based on timing and market bias.

Each month I try to update everyone in the New Moon report. I give you an overall picture of the how astrological phenomena will effect the markets. Hopefully you can use it to your advantage before you go to your portfolio site and decide whether this is a good time to sell your stocks that are dead money, make a new investment, or hold onto the ones that actually pay a dividend.

Buying or selling stocks especially if you have a long position requires self-disciple, a target date and excellent stops. You knew that, Right?
They teach you timing. They explain when to start a business, whether a stock according to its chart has a chance of increasing in value, and they explain when outside forces can temporarily damage the price of a stock.

One of the clues as to the exact date to buy or sell is planetary phenomena. Jupiter transits like to give you the opportunity to make a profit and Saturn transits like to When I wrote the Textbook for Financial Astrology I arranged the lessons in the order of their importance to buying and selling stock.

Quite a few planetary phenomena have occurred since 1997 and I've had the opportunity to keep my students informed during these cycles.

Iceland's Volcanos

The Year Without an Arctic Summer
"Old Willie" told the legend of the year that summer did not come" Eskimos living in tiny villages along the coast of the Seward Peninsula (Nome, Alaska) were unable to collect the food they needed for the next winter. He told the story of a sudden change in the weather one June, as the Eskimos were ready to collect the fish, berries and meat they needed to survive winter. Just as they were getting ready to hunt the weather changed. The north wind came bringing weather so bitter that the hunting season ended before it began.
Only 10 people in the area survived including an old woman and her granddaughter who ate a seal-skin boat.

Tree Rings Record the Climate.
Gordon Jacoby of Columbia University heard the story and found in his collection of tree rings one from an area near the Kauwerak villages on the Seward Peninsula.
"It was unique" Jacoby says. "The growth for the first part of the year 1783 appeared normal, but it came to an abrupt end just as summer should have begun. The record was clear 1783 was the coldest growing season in more than 900 years.
A little research and he discovered that June 8, 1783 the Skaptar Jokull volcano in Iceland suddenly erupted and continued to erupt for the next 6 months. It was among the most disastrous in history. In Iceland it killed 20% of the population. It sent up a dense cloud of gas and the prevailing winds carried the cloud over Canada and Alaska and across to Japan where it initiated a severe famine.
The sulfurous gasses in the volcanic clouds combined with water forming crystals that reflected the solar radiation back into space. Jacoby's tree ring analysis demonstrated that the northern most areas of Alaska had no growing season, and southern Alaska experienced significant cooling.

18th Century Sun Spots
Sun Spot activity from 1770-1773 was recorded as the high for the 18th Century. Saturn had just passed the exact opposition to Uranus and from the heliocentric point of view. Also from the helio point of view Jupiter had just left the conjunction to Saturn.
September 1, 2009 the opposition of Saturn and Uranus were also exact and Jupiter was moving to a conjunction with Neptune from the helio point of view. This date marked the end of a long 704 day Solar minimum. From the geocentric point of view the current opposition of Saturn and Uranus will be exact April 26 and July 26. Planetary dynamics predicts that volcanic activity in Iceland will continue. Wind direction indicates the areas most vulnerable.

Solar Spots and Flares
The Llewellyn Sun Sign Annual 2010 contains an article I wrote "Sun Spot Explosion 2010."
In the article I tell some of the legends in the Arctic that explain the appearance of the Northern Lights. I read the folk legends carefully looking for stories that contain weather warnings handed down through the generations. Often they prove to be accurate historic accounts of weather disasters.

The New Moon in Aries

Read this New Moon report in it's entirety at www.astrologicalinvesting.com/html/newsletter.html
New Moon forecasts show the general trends and financial outlook for the month; here is what Kaye Shinker has to say for the month ahead:

New Moon in Aries in the 12th House
The New Moon concentration of planets in the 12th house suggests that public institutions are under intense pressure. Budgets must be cut. No public employee wants to lose their job, but lack of tax receipts insist that whole agencies disappear. Elected officials will be required to make tough decisions. These decisions will be made behind closed doors.

Mercury in the 12th house
This Mercury, while direct, continues to discuss laws concerning helping the poor/disabled and institutionalized. Opinions are forcefully expressed and stubbornly held.

The real problem is when Mercury goes retrograde in Taurus. The media on both sides of every scandal will discuss them, but no one is able to agree on a solution. Don't ask anyone to make a decision any further into the future than an hour.

Venus in the 12th house
Institutions and governments try to increase their budgets by asking for donations and grants. Some are able to increase their budgets and benefits. Parks and recreation will gain more receipts than expected since they are the least expensive of recreation options.

Mars in the 3rd house
Auto sales are slow because of Mercury retrograde. Folks are anticipating future machines with better mileage than what is currently available. Recreational vehicle sales are also slow.

Commodities markets have problems. Commodities prices are all over the place. News reports concerning weather will cause volatile grain prices. Erratic demand for metals will keep traders extremely busy. The underlying problem is currency and their floats.

Pluto in the 8th house
Pluto is at home in the 8th and happily collecting taxes and insurance premiums. Tax collections are higher than expected. The party in power takes the praise and the blame for higher everything. You may begin to recognize the cultural shift will in attitudes toward personal responsibility. Folks are considering new ways to incorporate their businesses into a desirable lifestyle.

Neptune in the 10th house
Employment continues to be elusive especially at the managerial levels. Creative and ingenious personnel is the need. Folks with the talent to manipulate audio, video and the written word in an attractive setting are the desired employees as advertising returns to the media. Opportunities abound for those behind the scenes and producing creative material.

Jupiter in the 11th house
Jupiter is rapidly moving to a conjunction with Uranus. 80% of their conjunctions have produced a high in the market. The same is true for transits of Jupiter to the Uranus on a Corporation. Therefore corporations formed during the 1920's and still operating on their original incorporation documents should do well during this transit. Dividends paid this month will be excellent and higher than forecasted. Double check your research and try a few stocks in the materials and machinery sector.

Uranus in the 11th house
Tech stocks have outfoxed us. Note the ones with cash on their balance sheets. (See the topic, "New economy? Stocks with cash and no debt" in the community bulletin board) They have survived this crisis and learned the magic lesson of how to do it again.  In the 11th they may chose to reward their shareholders with dividends. Unlikely,  but possible with Uranus the planet of unexpected changes.

First Share of Stock

Oldest Share of Stock-a nonvaleurs (no value)

"Dutch Vereinigte Oostindische Compaignie (VOC) share certificate # 6, down-payment on a share; issued by the Camere Amsterdam 27th September 1606. Original signatures: Arent ten Grotenhuys and Dirck van Os, company founder van Verre and after 1602 Directors of VOC Kammer Amsterdam. "

Translation of the copy on the face of the stock which you can view by following this link.

I'm a history buff and I've been surfing all day looking for the first day various Central Banks opened and when banks first issued notes. Then I took an interest in stock exchanges and found the oldest one was in Amsterdam.

I copied this paragraph from the web site just to give you a little bit of background information about this treasure.

"The original paid up share capital was 6,424,588 Guilders, a huge sum at that time.
The key to success in the raising of capital was the decision taken by the owners to to open up access to a wide public and to accept shareholders as part-owners.
Thus the shares were sold rapidly, mostly at a nominal value of 3000 Guilders, and they were tradable, as any Dutchman could buy and sell them. The share price was not set by the government of the country but by an independent joint-stock corporation interested in profit.
The company shareholders (the term came into use after about 1606) had to produce the subscribed capital in four part payments and they were called up by the VOC between 1603 and 1606. " Website photo.

I calculated the chart of the stock. Could it be that its Sun, Saturn and Mars in early cardinal could have influenced the date when future stock exchanges organized? My research was producing a trend for most of the exchanges to have planets in early cardinal. None of them were happy in early 2009 when Pluto finally moved into Capricorn.

This historic stock was really hit hard in January 2009. Pluto was conjunct its Saturn Mars conjunction and Neptune was conjunct its Jupiter. Saturn was conjunct its North Node. January 2009 was a very rough time for stocks worldwide. It looks like this summer's early cardinal T square of Jupiter, Uranus, Saturn and Pluto will be a challenge for the chart of this first ever stock. Once upon a time it was very valuable and expensive. Today its value is as an antique.

A description of its history as an antique as well as a discussion of the evolution of stock trading is very interesting. It might send you to the old trunk in the attic just to double check it for paper treasures.

Oh by the way the oldest company still in existence is the Hudson Bay Company. Check out its chart with its early Cardinal planets pg. 105 The Textbook for Financial Astrology Book 3

Chinese Currency: Renminbi alias Yuan

The headline is that the Chinese Premier Lu's visit to the USA signals an easing in the valuation of Chinese currency to the US Dollar. Reporters expect that China banking officials will allow a modest appreciation in the value of the Renminbi alias Yuan. Many economists believe that it is 20% over valued against all other currencies.

Renminbi Floats
July 21, 2005 the peg of the Chinese Renminbi was lifted and a managed float was put into place. At that point in time transiting Neptune was opposed the Renminbi's Pluto and Jupiter was conjunct its Neptune. In Financial astrology Neptune represents interest rates which is basically the meaning of a float.

Example of the Float
July 21, 2005 the Chinese Central Bank lifted its peg to foreign currencies and allowed a managed float using a basket of currencies. Until July 21,2005 it would cost 8.2 Renminbi to buy one US dollar. In July 2007 the price was 7.6 and today it takes 6.8 Renminbi to buy one US dollar.

Chinese Invented Paper Money
Chinese currency has a long and very interesting history. They invented copper coins with a hole in the center. Folks strung the coins together and traded the strings of coins for goods. Eventually the coin strings weighed more than their owner. Inconvenient!

Find a need and fill it
The Chinese invented paper money known as Mulberry currency since the paper was from the inner bark of a Mulberry tree. Originally the paper money could be traded for copper coins, silver or gold but like all great currencies it soon became a fiat currency as rulers ran their printing presses faster and faster.

Today's Yuan
A year before the final take over of the China's government The People's Party established a bank to issue a new currency. It was a brilliant move and the date appears to have been set by someone not very conversant in Chinese Astrology since it is the year of the earth rat.

The chart above tests well with events in the history of this version of their currency. Therefore we might expect that transiting Pluto conjunct its Jupiter/Mars and transiting Saturn opposed Uranus square its natal Uranus will ignite some very deliberate action on the part of the Chinese Central Bank to bring the valuation of their currency into balance with the dollar and other world currencies. Their controlled float will be very measured since Saturn seems to be in charge of the pace. Saturn will make a conjunction to the Renminbi Neptune March 25, 2011 thus ending the float.
