The New Moon in Taurus 2012

Read this New Moon report in it's entirety at www.astrologicalinvesting.com/html/newsletter.html    New Moon forecasts show the general trends and financial outlook for the lunar month based upon location of the chart.* (see note )

New Moon Taurus 2012The New Moon in Taurus, April 21st.
Last month the Sun in Aries came roaring in like a Lion. And Aries isn't going out  like a spring lamb. We had a Super Full Moon on April 6, which triggered extreme weather worldwide. Monstrous tornadoes in the Fort Worth / Dallas area near my daughter's home did some severe property damage. Unbelievably, no one died and thankfully no one in my family was impacted by the devastation. (whew!)

Super Moons often predict natural disasters such as severe weather, earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanic activity. Richard Nolle created the term "Super New Moon" and goes into detail on his web site discussing Eclipses, Super Moons and the "Max" cycles of the planets.

Ok, that's enough talk about the weather, let's turn our attention to the next New Moon.

Here is the New Moon chart from the point of view of Wall Street and the NYSE.

A Time to Slow Down.

Aries is all action. Mars, the ruler of Aries has been back  in direct motion since April 13. Mercury went direct on April 4th and re-entered Aries, once again in mutual reception with Mars. The Moon entered Aries on the 18th and made a conjunction with Uranus in Aries. Energized Aries,  on track and ready to go Full Speed Ahead! But, uh, hold on, wait just a minute, oh oh, the Sun moved into Taurus on the 19th.

Taurus would prefer not to move. If he must move he does it best unhurried, measured and deliberate. Just between you and me, I'm certain the Stubborn Bull is enormously amused at the irony of the driving energetic Aries Sun having met with resistance from an opposition to Saturn on the 15th. A yellow caution light - Saturn's warning to the Sun, "Slow Down!"

In Taurus, the Sun's energy is about taking stock of what one has - finding security and contentment in that. Taurus is ruled by Venus and thoroughly enjoys what he has accumulated. Taurus energy is practical, interested in solid investments, and is not into taking risks.

It is cautious, stubborn, and slow to act energy. When there are many planets in Taurus, markets can congest. "If prices were to break below support or above resistance, a sense of panic could emerge because of the "security" issue of Taurus." from Ray Merriman's book, Basic Principles of Geocosmic Studies for Financial Market Timing.

The New Moon in the second house
The second house is Taurus' natural home, a house naturally ruled by Venus, and concerns itself with money and values. A New Moon in Taurus here suggests changes in financial affairs and an emphasis on earned income.

Frugality and conservatism toward spending is strong in Taurus, however, the New Moon trines Mars, and the next day the Moon conjuncts Jupiter - which suggests this New Moon could push the market further upward with financials leading the way. (Taurus ruled stocks include banks and financial institutions - The Textbook for Financial Astrology, Book 1, )

Short-term price highs often occur during the New Moon phase, and this New Moon should not be an exception. Read Randall Ashbourne's article, The Moods of The Moon.

A little side note: Kaye Shinker liked to remind her students, "the time to open a savings account is when the Moon is in Taurus." When it's a New Moon in Taurus it is even a better time!
New Moons are the time to begin new projects. With the Taurus New Moon in the 2nd house, open a savings account and begin a project that will become a money generator!

Jupiter in the third house
The house where Jupiter falls in a New Moon chart is where we expect to see abundance, expansion and optimism - we can, however, see an opposite effect when Jupiter over reacts. When Jupiter over-reacts, it is over-the-top!

The third house is ruled by Mercury and is Gemini's domain. As Jupiter prepares to leave Taurus in June, we will see Gemini ruled stocks come into favor. What is interesting about Jupiter here is that the stocks that will come into favor as Jupiter transits Gemini are the stocks that will be influenced this month by Jupiter.

Stocks in the transportation and communications sector will see a positive effect with Jupiter in the third, as well as the education sector.

People are concerned with education for their children, local infrastructure may find funds approved and those seeking new employment find themselves enrolling in school again.

A very important word to the wise: Jupiter is at 17° 55' degrees of Taurus - past the mid point of Taurus. History has shown that the market begins a steady downward trend from when Jupiter is near the end of Taurus until Jupiter arrives in Leo. Have firm stops in place keeping in mind that history often repeats itself, and don't underestimate Taurus' security issues. Read Randall Ashbourne's article, Jupiter's cycle and its effects on Wall Street.

So...What do we do if in fact the market goes south? Well, even in a Bear market, there are stocks that outperform. It is time to look at stocks that typically do well when Jupiter is in Gemini. Throughout Kaye Shinker's Textbooks for Financial Astrology Kaye discusses how to pick stocks. The Textbook for Financial Astrology, Book 1, lesson 9 includes lists of industries Jupiter will expand through the signs.

Astro Economics Stock Market Newsletter does the research for you! "In the coming cycle shift, look for Media (including Social Media), stocks, Education, Leisure, Travel, Transportation (particularly air), Retail-Internet and high-tech products." Grace Morris

Venus in the fourth house
Housing, land and real estate values are the areas Venus in Gemini will influence. Venus in the 4th is good for farming and agriculture. We should see some balmy spring weather that will benefit crops. People will be looking to improve their holdings in real estate, financing new homes and beautifying their environment.

Venus moved into Gemini on April 4. In Gemini, Venus values newness, variety, and change.
A Gemini theme begins to emerge this month as the two money planets, Venus and Jupiter are influenced by  Gemini; in house placement (Jupiter in the third) and sign placement (Venus in Gemini)  And the next two (yes two!) New Moons will occur in the zodiac sign of Gemini.

Smart investors will be buying in the sector ruled by Gemini in advance of Jupiter's entry into Gemini in June.

Mars in the seventh house
Mars turned direct in Virgo on April 13 and is now operating with all batteries charged. Energy is focused, assertive, and critical. Mars in the 7th house is combative, and not good at compromise or peaceful negotiations. Grave danger of international disputes and military actions in foreign countries could impact the market.

Saturn in the eighth house
The house where Saturn falls in a New Moon chart is where you expect limitations to be set. Restrictions will be on insurance, financial institutions, and taxes. Now that the Buffet Rule has been ruled out, what next?

Pluto in the eleventh house
Planets in the eleventh house have investors focusing their attention on dividends, bonuses and earnings from investments. (From the Textbook for Financial Astrology, IV) Shareholders and the board of directors for corporate entities engage in a deeply intense discussion of earnings and dividends.

Neptune, Mercury, and Uranus in the first house
"The first house in a Mundane chart represents the people, the general condition of the country, and in a general sense the public health." (Raphael's Mundane Astrology)

Lots of speech making going on, busy political meetings and debates - more of the same, but people want change.
Railways, motoring and aviation are spotlighted.

HEADS UP! - Upcoming astrological events
May 15 - Venus turns retrograde for 33 days. In financial astrology Venus has dominion over money, which includes monetary policy. Be prepared if the Fed reverses decisions during Venus Retrograde.
Retrograde Venus often coincides with a market crest and then a sharp decline. According to Bill Meridian in his article The Effect of Planetary Stations on U.S. Stock Prices, from the book Financial Astrology, historically the Dow Jones Industrial average tends to bottom at the station and rise about 1 1/2% in the following 50 days after the station.

May 20 - Solar Eclipse at 0° Gemini
The next New Moon is a Solar Eclipse. Because the Sun, Moon and Earth are all in alignment, a solar eclipse has a longer lasting influence than a typical New Moon. Check to see if any stocks you are holding have planets at 0° Gemini in their first trade or IPO chart. Solar Eclipses can produce significant consequences on stock prices.

The New Moon in Aries 2012

Read this New Moon report in it's entirety at www.astrologicalinvesting.com/html/newsletter.html    New Moon forecasts show the general trends and financial outlook for the lunar month based upon location of the chart.* (see note )

Let's look at the New Moon chart from the point of view of Wall Street and the NYSE.

A reality fix.

The move out of Pisces and into Aries is strong. This energy brings to mind the line from the movie Moonstruck, where Cher slaps Nicolas Cage saying, "Snap out of it!"

Snap out of it, indeed! Aries, ruled by Mars, is strong, assertive and aggressive, and acts very differently from a dreamy, all-inclusive, Make-Love-Not-War Piscean. This is a wake up call into reality. The Sun is exalted in

Aries and is ruled by Mars energetically acting on his own behalf.

The New Moon conjunct Mercury and Uranus in the 11th house

So, here we have a New Moon chart at 2 degrees Aries, Mercury at 0 Aries, and Uranus at 4 Aries. Zero degrees Aries is the Aries Point, considered an intensely strong degree. All these planets are conjunct the Aries Point, bringing a rush of cardinal energetic energy strongly to the forefront in this horoscope.

This is a hyper-active New Moon. This energetic stellium, four planets in the 11th house, increase volume in the market, and trading activity in sectors ruled by Aries may be frenetic. Markets will over-react to sudden surprising news, and with Mercury Retrograde the information may be inaccurate or have to be revised.

Randall Ashbourne states in his article, Using Daily Aspect Calendars to Time Intraday Trades, "The moon's effect in Aries is aggressive and the Moon travelling in Aries can start a move in a direction likely to last for a couple of days. Since Uranus is now in Aries, the Moon and Uranus will be in the same section of the sky, a conjunction, and the action is likely to be both sudden and surprising."

Planets in the eleventh house have investors focusing their attention on dividends, bonuses and earnings from investments. (From the Textbook for Financial Astrology, IV)

Earnings should meet or do better than expectations.

Mercury continues it's retrograde movement from Aries, re-entering Pisces.  However, in Aries Mercury is in a mutual reception with Mars in Virgo. Planets in mutual reception have a stronger, more intense relationship with each other. They work together extremely well, behaving themselves like honored guests in each others houses.

What to expect with this mutual reception?  Well, Mercury in Pisces is in detriment - because it is in the sign opposite its sign of natural rulership - and is at a disadvantage. However, when Mercury returns to Aries, Mars in Virgo will support Mercury's energy.  Mercury will sharpen up, and communication should be a bit more focused. Mars in Virgo however, gets the most benefit from this mutual reception, but still the energy can be impulsive and very passive-aggressive - and inaccurate! - due to the retrograde. We will see a lot of pickiness and pettiness being reported by the media.

Venus and Jupiter conjunct in Taurus in the 12th house

Venus in Taurus can hardly be any happier! This is her own sign and she is in heaven in the 12th house, as Jupiter affectionately dotes. Jupiter brings an abundance of all things Venus in Taurus adores – money and material possessions. This conjunction trine Mars and Pluto is indicative of the financial sector doing well, as well as luxury retail and material goods. Heath care is the topic of discussion.

Mars in the 4th in opposition to Neptune the 10th house

Mars is retrograde, and the market is running on it's last leg. The general public is very concerned and wants to see continued strength. Mars in Virgo demands that corporations and government clean up waste.

Mars in the 4th house is unfortunate for real estate. The housing market will struggle.

Weather in New York should be very wet!

*NOTE:  When studying the horoscopes of nations and large communities, New Moon charts take a step behind solar ingress charts.

The entry of the Sun into the four cardinal signs of the zodiac - namely Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn - is by far more significant. And of those four, the Aries Ingress chart is considered to be the most important by many astrologers. A horoscope for the Vernal Equinox - when the Sun enters the zodiac sign of Aries - is thought to be the foundation for all predictions during the year for that particular location.

There is some disagreement to that however. Kaye Shinker states in The Textbook for Financial Astrology, Book IV, that for financial and business astrology, the Capricorn Ingress is what sets the stage for the coming year, and is most important.

In any case, the entry of the Sun into the four cardinal signs of the zodiac is very important indeed, as each of them give us a broad overview of what to expect in the seasonal months following each cardinal ingress. Read my latest article on the web site, The Spring Equinox, March 2012.

THE SPRING EQUINOX MARCH 2012

The Spring Equinox occurs Tuesday March 20 2012 at 1:14 AM EDT Washington D.C. It's officially Spring and a time of celebration and new beginnings!

For your own score card click, link to Countdown to 2012 and print the list of phenomena. Astrological Countdown to the end of the Mayan Calendar.

Happy Astrologers Day March 20!
Astrologers celebrate the New Astronomical Year when the Sun enters Aries. It's not unusual for astrological groups to get together to celebrate and share their thoughts on what the new year will bring. This is an especially festive time with a Grand Earth Trine, and a Venus Jupiter conjunction in the 5th house.

The Spring Equinox chart has Sagittarius rising. Jupiter rules the chart and is conjunct Venus in an Earth Grand trine with Mars and Pluto. There will be great philosophical and analytical discussion of the economy, and a good deal of political discussion regarding the 2012 Presidential election and the USA's involvement in foreign affairs.

Reading The Chart:

In The Textbook for Financial Astrology, Book IV, Kaye Shinker provides us with a table of what each planet and house means in a mundane chart.

Pluto in the first house
The first house in a mundane chart represents the People, and the Sun in mundane astrology represents the Government. Pluto in the first house is square the Sun. Change is demanded by the people, and the demands are resisted. Public outcries and demonstrations are misunderstood and "not heard" because Mercury retrograde is also square Pluto.

Pluto is also involved in a Grand Earth Trine, sextile the Moon-Neptune conjunction in the third.
There is an unrealistic, overwhelming feeling of prosperity and power to the people.

Moon conjunct Neptune in Pisces in the third house
The third house in a mundane chart has dominion over all forms of transportation and communications. It has to do with the media, public opinion, neighboring nations, and weather in general.

Expect weathermen to have an even more difficult time predicting the weather with Moon conjunct Neptune! Neptune promises a very wet and foggy spring.

Will you be able to trust the media? With Neptune and the Moon influencing reporting, and with Mercury retrograde, I have my doubts they will report unbiased news. Don't believe what you read and only half of what you see and hear!

The Jupiter Cycle and Its Effects on Wall Street

Could the position of the planet Jupiter consistently predict the timing of Bull market tops and Bear bottoms?

According to recent research tracking 140 years of prices on Wall Street, the answer is a simple: Yes.

In the Greek mythology, Zeus/Jupiter was head honcho of the Old Gods. The ancient Greek tales, when studied in depth, are Creation stories charting the history of the world.

And the tales form the basis of the system of astrology still used in the Western world. They also have counterparts in other cultures. In Vedic astrology and the Hindu religion, for example, Zeus/Jupiter has a counterpart in the figures of Guru/Ganesh.

In both cases, this “king” of gods introduces the concept that one can break free - spiritually or materially. In brief, Jupiter is the symbol of growth and expansion.

And Jupiter’s cycle through the zodiac shows up a very interesting statistical tendency in stock markets.

Since the 1870s, Wall Street has shown a distinct tendency to peak while Jupiter is in late Aries/early Taurus … decline into Jupiter in Leo … rise again until Jupiter is in his own primary sign, Sagittarius … and drop dramatically into Jupiter in Aquarius.

The knee-jerk response of many readers will be to dismiss the assertion as superstitious nonsense. It is an understandable, if predictable, response. Most people simply don’t know anything about the complexity of astrology, its history, or the fact that the system of symbolism and prediction is based on observation by literally millions of practitioners over thousands of years.

It is simply a clearly demonstrable fact that trading The Moods of The Moon - the monthly phases of the lunar cycle - produces steady and reliable profits across any long-term time frame.

And many of those same dismissive readers will happily fork out bundles of boodle to be trained in Gann techniques, or take notice of the Bradley Model turn dates - without having a clue that both are deeply rooted in astrological aspects.

But, the proof of the pudding is in the eating and nothing paints a clearer picture than … a picture.
The chart above shows The Jupiter Cycle at work since the late 1990s.

It is a monthly of the venerable Dow Jones Industrial Average and shows the statistical tendency worked perfectly at the 1999/2000 top, the 2002/03 bottom, the 2007 blow-off and the March, 2009 bottom.

The warning signals from the research are clear. If the historical tendency plays out as usual, Wall Street is reaching a peak in early 2012 and heading into a Bear market which could last until mid-2014.

In fact, the late Aries peak expected by the research data did play out on schedule in May, 2011. You’ll notice the price bars on the DJIA peaked just before the dark green solid bars which identify when Jupiter changed signs to Taurus and that the index is currently challenging that level again.

Since the May 2011 peak, Jupiter has been moving Direct and Retrograde in the early degrees of Taurus.

When I first published this chart in my Forecast 2012 early in January, I warned the position of Jupiter allowed a final rally into the first few weeks of March.

Now, the research shows a statistical tendency … not a cast-iron guarantee.

While the formula played out exactly from 1999 to 2009, there have been a few times when rallies have briefly exceeded the Jupiter in Taurus limit before diving into a Leo Bear bottom.

And 1929 was one of them.

We could consider that the blow-off rally past Taurus was the technical equivalent of “a false break”. And one of the rules of a failed false break pattern is that the reversal is large and sharp, regardless of whether the break is a high or a low.

The dive into the red Jupiter in Leo bars is as obvious as the recovery rally which peaked as Jupiter again left his home sign of Sagittarius and the DJIA dropped into the first trough of a double-bottom pattern that sparked the multi-decade Bull market into the 2000/2007 peaks.

The two previous charts have shown exactly how The Jupiter Cycle performed from the late 20s to the early 40s and the late 90s to early 00s.

What is interesting to observe is how the tendency played out during the great sideways shuffle from the early 60s to 80s … and how similar that period seems to be to market performance since the 1999/2000 peak.
The comparison with current market behaviour is stunning. This 20-year time frame last century was marked by sudden Bull rallies and equally sharp Bear plunges in quick succession.

And while the exact tops and bottoms fell outside the statistical tendency of The Jupiter Cycle, nevertheless there were consistent rallies into the Taurus and Sagittarius periods and sharp declines into the Leo and Aquarian periods.

Combined, the three charts show why extreme care is needed maintaining Long positions as we go further into 2012.
  • We are moving into the long-term negative tendency of Jupiter moving out of early Taurus and towards Leo, where he will take up residence from the second half of 2014 until June, 2015.
  • We are entering the exact time frame of another long-range negative astrological aspect – Uranus square Pluto, an aspect which last occurred at the bottom of the 1929-1932 crash – and the first exact hit of that aspect occurs this year in June and will continue until March, 2015.

On a technical level, Jupiter’s orbit of the Sun corresponds broadly with three and four year “cycles” in the markets. The Old God’s journey through the zodiac takes 12 years.

On my website – www.theidiotandthemoon.com – I constantly caution my readers against allowing astrological expectations to override the common sense technical conditions shown by the current state of the charts.

Accurate astrological prediction is as much a skill as it is the result of many years of study and empirical research.

Nevertheless, it’s why W.D. Gann has a large worldwide following, decades after his death – and why J.P. Morgan had the renowned astrologer, Evangeline Adams, on his payroll.

“And therefore as a stranger give it welcome.
There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio,
Than are dreamt of in your philosophy.” – Shakespeare

Trading the Moods of the Moon

As Randall Ashbourne mentions in his eBook, The Idiot & The Moon, astrologers have been aware of the effects of the Moon's moods for a long time.

We have seen short-term price highs occurring in the financial market with New Moons.

Yesterday the DOW briefly passed 13,000 for the first time since May 2008. The day after the New Moon we have begun to see things in another light! Stocks closed lower Wednesday for the first time in four trading days.

The Moon begins to grow, shedding new light upon us. We see in this new light that there are challenges to face. We are no longer under a hopeful spell and full of optimism. Optimism begins to fade.

Today, the day after the New Moon, it was quite choppy trading in the Pisceans waters! Oil prices swung back and forth, and equities either stalled or remained in negative territory. We wonder, does our economic situation warrant such highs? Apparently we are not sure, and so it shows.

There is so much risk out there. And, as astrologers we understand cycles, transiting aspects, and the whole concept of "as above, so below". But something so simple as knowing how the 28 day cycle of the Moon can affect the financial market is, well… simply too simple – even for us! We can be disbelievers as much as the people who scoff at astrology! How can it be that simple?

Readers of The Idiot & The Moon, when they try Randall's method of using the Moon phases with a filter he calls The Idiot, (because it is so simple!) are impressed. They not only prove it to themselves that it works, but some readers have even found interesting and more profitable variations using the Moods of the Moon and the "filter" Randall reveals in his book.

What is wonderful is that they are so pleased with the results they share it with us.
And, as astrologers, we definitely should not only take advantage of our understanding of astrology, but be willing to share this knowledge!

Here's a letter from a reader that Randall received just the other day and sent to me to share with you:

" Hello Randall,

"…I like the simplicity of the phases of the moon and I couldn't believe it could be so easy. So to prove it to myself I constructed a spread sheet starting with selling 1 share of SPY on Dec 30, 2005 and continuing with the pattern of selling 1 additional share on Q1, buying 3 shares on FM (to get long 1 share), buying 1 additional share on Q3, selling 3 shares (to get short 1 share) on NM .... I entered the prices of the opens and the closes on my spread sheet to see if there might be a small advantage to trading the system on the opens.

To my amazement the system does work, but you knew this already. What I also found was that by entering trades at the opening prices you would have out performed the trades entered on the close of the day, except in 2006. From Dec 30, 2005 until Feb 7, 2012, trading 1 share of SPY, the system profited $207.78 using opening prices and $160.53 using closing prices. And in 2008, when the system trading the closes showed a small loss of -$6.50 per share and the opening prices showed a profit of $42.80 during the same time period. " JM

Randall's reply to him was, "… I'm glad you've found the information useful and, having proved it for yourself (not to mention finding an even-more-profitable tweak), I hope the combination of some of the simple methodologies outlined in the book help you make future dreams come true. Warm regards and best wishes" – RA

The New Moon in Pisces 2012

Read this New Moon report in it's entirety at www.astrologicalinvesting.com/html/newsletter.html
New Moon forecasts show the general trends and financial outlook for the lunar month based upon location of the chart

Preface: In Lesson Eight, titled Mundane Astrology, in The Textbook for Financial Astrology, Book 4, Kaye Shinker outlined how to read a New Moon chart. Kaye always read the New Moon chart from the point of view of Washington D.C. and gave predictions in the newsletters foretelling events which included economic, political, sociological, entrepreneurial, and meteorological conditions.

My New Moon reports will be different. I prefer to use New York, NY for the location of the New Moon chart instead, and will focus on the economic issues and political conditions affecting the financial market. In my reading I'll interpret the house placement of the New Moon for the NYSE and major aspects going on as represented chart. As time goes on the format may change, so let me know what you think!

But for now, let's look at the chart from the point of view of Wall Street and the NYSE. (Click chart for larger image)

What is going on here?!?!

Well, to start, the Sun entered the zodiac sign of Pisces on the 19th. For financial markets the Sun represents the government, heads of state, the CEO's and presidents of corporations. In Pisces these entities wake each day to a boundless and ethereal Piscean world having visions of utopia.

Interestingly, this chart lacks dynamic energy, and what I mean by lacking dynamic energy is, when using very tight orbs, the only major aspect between planets is the 6th house conjunction of the New Moon with Neptune!

Basically, at the exact time of the New Moon, all the planets with the exception of the Sun, Moon and Neptune are without aspect! Planets without aspect often act without restraint – or sometimes they just quietly hold back and don't act at all. This new Moon conjunction takes place in Pisces – so folks, we may be confused about what is ahead this month. Confusion equals volatility in the stock market.

The New Moon conjunct Neptune in the 6th house
The focus is on jobs and the health of the economy. Unemployment figures may be up, and the stock market may appear to be rallying to new heights, but we wonder, is it all a Piscean illusion?

Healthcare stocks may lead the market.

Mercury in the 7th House
Two days after the New Moon, Mercury will oppose Mars on February 23 at 17° Pisces. That will be the last aspect Mercury makes before changing signs to join Venus and Uranus in the aggressive sign of Aries. A challenging aspect, this opposition may manifest in a breakdown of communication regarding mergers and public relations.

News from Astro Economics: (excerpt from February's Astro Economics newsletter...)
"January 2012 was the best month for the stock market since 1997! Are the investors back? Have they decided to stop listening to the negative news sources and actually looking at reliable sources? Although GDP growth is slow it is moving in the right direction as are employment rates. The Federal Reserve has expressed its intention to keep interest rates low into 2014. (This may be why many analysts are again touting gold.) Low interest rates are always good for the stock market. Last week at the World Economic Forum meeting in Davos, Switzerland, leaders of U.S. companies were mostly positive on the future of the economy.
GOLDEN CROSS
Historically the Golden Cross is considered a positive sign for the months ahead in the stock market. The Golden Cross occurs when the 50-day moving-average and the 200-day moving-average form a cross. This occurred on 1/31/12 in the S&P 500 Index. Past results point to future gains..." The New Moon in Capricorn, 2011

Read this New Moon report in it's entirety at www.astrologicalinvesting.com/html/newsletter.html
New Moon forecasts show the general trends and financial outlook for the month; below is some of what Kaye Shinker predicted before her death, November 18, 2011.  This is for the lunar month ahead, the New Moon in Capricorn.  And sadly, it is her last new moon report.  We miss you Kaye!
The New Moon in Capricorn, December 24, 2011, 1:06 PM EST
The New Moon appears in the 9th House (refer to chart) Non USA members can set up a New Moon chart for the capital of their country. Textbook 4, page 30 of the Textbook For Financial Astrology, will help with interpretation the New Moon chart. (Note the house position of the New Moon in the chart in the capital of the country.)

Capricorn New Moon
The focus of the Capricorn New Moon is to take advantage of educational opportunities. The next few weeks offer an opportunity to start a new business or begin an important project. Foreign trade is the focus of financial markets. Expect new creative ideas to emerge in the markets place.
December 25, Merry Christmas!
Jupiter Direct at 0°Taurus
Jupiter will return to applying to a trine with Pluto ending with the Spring 2012 equinox. Everyone will strive for personal success. Agriculture and Business find plenty of work and energy to accomplish the goals they set. Business in emerging markets will remain successful throughout this time period.

The exact aspect marks an up market and the midpoint of an extended period of buyouts, mergers and mega deals. It is also a warning of bankruptcy among various financial institutions. It is very important to check the debt obligations of equities on your list of possible investments. Folks need to repeat the mantra "Cash is King" when judging investments and managing their own budgets.

Statistically 66% of the time the markets slowly go up after Jupiter resumes direct motion. However it can mark a high whereupon the markets plunge. This happened in March 2002 and September 2008. It is a time where firm stops are required.

Moon phases (for our subscribers who trade using phases of the Moon)
New Moon,  December 24, 2011, 1st Quarter Moon, January 1, 2012;  Full Moon, January 9, 2012;  Last Quarter,  January 16, 2012;  next New Moon, January 23, 2012.  (Read Randall Ashbourne's article, The Moods of the Moon - Trading the Mood Swings of the Monthly Lunar Cycle

January 24 Mars retrograde at 23 Virgo to stay until July 3,2012
Mars entered Virgo November 12, 2011 and will stay in Virgo until July 3 2012.  Mars in Virgo very often forecasts very exciting events. Virgo has a reputation for precision and the ability to organize disparate parts into a logical order. Mars will give Virgo a shock of added energy.  Folks will fill their trash cans, businesses will clean up their balance sheets, legislators will find their constituents insisting they dispose of waste and fraud in government. Investors will insist that their companies cut unnecessary expenses and entrepreneurs will pinch every penny.

It has been calculated the fixed star Regulus has moved to zero degrees Virgo.

The retrograde station forecasts an up market during the 80 days Mars is retrograde. However the 20th Century Mars retrogrades show a down market during the first month. Halfway through the retrograde period the market turns up and by the time Mars is once again direct the market has returned to the number average that it started at when Mars turned retrograde. Previous Mars retrogrades in Virgo have found traders attempting to corner one of the commodities, for example the Silver market in 1980.
The Capricorn New Moon appears in the 9th House (see chart above) With the New Moon in the 9th, travel is favored throughout the month ahead. It is also a good time to enroll in challenging classes. Religious organizations will find increased revenues and interest in their philosophy. While shopping this month pay particular attention to new and creative ideas as they appear in the marketplace.

Mercury appears in the 8th House
Folks complain about overwhelming paper work concerning taxes and insurance. Folks are frustrated and voicing their concerns. Government officials are offering their retirement applications as scandals continue to emerge.

Venus appears in the 10th House
Management will find an increase in compensation. The pressure on CEO's is intense and they will demand creativity from their subordinates. Entrepreneurs are finding interesting new ways to add to their income.

Mars appears in the 6th House
Employers in the medical industry continue to hire new workers. Scandals plague the industry adding to the number of job openings at the management level.

Jupiter appears in the 1st House
The public is happy and ready to enjoy the holidays ahead with good food and fun recreation. They are enjoying their new electronic toys and children are teaching elders how to make everything work. Families are busy visiting and exchanging stories.

The Winter Solstice - December 22, 2011

written by Kaye Shinker before her death on November 18, 2011.  At the end of her life Kaye was actively teaching students of financial astrology, traveling for speaking engagements and personal consulting, blogging on the astrologicalinvesting blog and writing articles for the web site, including this last article The Winter Solstice, 2011.   If you would like to personally comment on Kaye's life, please post  your thoughts and condolences on Facebook.

The Winter Solstice - December 22, 2011*
12:30 A.M. EST
Washington, D.C.
* The Solstice date varies, and can be from December 20 to December 23 on the Georgian calendar.

The December Solstice occurs when the Sun is at it's most southerly declination of -23.5 degrees in the Northern hemisphere and is the shortest day of the year. The sun is directly overhead on the Tropic of Capricorn in the Southern hemisphere during the December solstice, and it is the longest day (in daylight hours) of the year for those living south of the Tropic of Capricorn.
(read about the Solstice at timeanddate.com )

Winter Solstice December 22, 2011 horoscope
The Winter Solstice, December 22, 2011, 12:30 AM, EST, Washington, D.C.
The Winter Solstice Sun is in the third house, square Uranus and trine Jupiter in the seventh.   It is time to think out of the box and find ways to use the plethora of social/business networks.

The Solstice Sun is all about the communications and the media.  Management and employees in the old media know that change is required and expect the 2012 New Year to be the time of transition.

The Sun holds the trine to Jupiter offering the Santa Claus effect in the markets. The changes initiated by technology are rewarding entrepreneurs entering the world of business.

Throughout the year ahead their business model will change the way the economy works. It is a time similar to the years 1928-1934.

New businesses replace the old without the support of the established economic paradigms.

December 25, Merry Christmas!
Jupiter Direct at 0° Taurus
Jupiter will return to applying to a trine with Pluto ending with the Spring 2012 equinox. Everyone will strive for personal success. Agriculture and Business find plenty of work and energy to accomplish

February 7 Saturn retrograde at 29° Libra Saturn in Libra tries to strike a balance between justice, discipline , fear repression, limitations, accountability and restrictions.

The Saturn station retrograde follows the current market trend. It does not seem to point to a change in direction. About 60% of the time the market is in an up cycle. About halfway through the retrograde expect the market to reverse direction.

February 14 Neptune returns to Pisces
Neptune will remain in its hometown of Pisces for 14 years. Pisces rules all things liquid as well as music, dancing, and poetry. It is a time when the arts make dramatic changes is style and form. Individual artists bring ideas that change the social order by revealing those areas of life that require a paradigm shift
in consciousness.  Medicine changes, energy sources change, and transportation changes. The
Textbook for Financial Astrology book 1 page 33
lists the areas of life ruled by Pisces.

History demonstrates that Neptune's transit of Pisces suddenly increases the supply of gold and it is devalued as a result. (read article, Neptune In Pisces)

March 12 Mercury Retrograde at 6° Pisces

Mercury Rx is an excellent time to schedule vacation. Excellent adventures are promised, but be sure to pack any carry-on luggage carefully. It is important to double check all appointments.

Mercury direct occurs April 4 with just enough time to purchase an Easter basket. Automobile dealers will have some excellent deals on new cars and retail stores will be required to make drastic markdowns. People find it difficult to decide on the exact item to purchase when Mercury is retrograde.

During a Mercury Rx the markets slide up and down only to return to where they started 90% of the time.

During the Mercury Rx it is best to avoid purchases of items over $20. It is not a good idea to sign contracts, or purchase big ticket items. it is a time to do things that start with “re”.  Example: read, recycle, repair, restore.

Long VOC Moons on trading days - During trading hours February 10, 23 and March 8 and 17.

The Winter Solstice Sun appears in the 3rd House
The Sun will focus attention on the individual. Folks are taking care of their own security and well being. They are making decisions about their own comfort zone and finding ways to improve their immediate space. People are connecting with friends and resetting their goals. They are trashing the debris in their lives and recycling the rest.

The markets will reflect the mood of people.  Retail establishments that provide excellent service or education will add customers.

Businesses that provide personal service will add to their revenues. Electronics manufactures who can customize their products will find increased sales.

Pluto appears in the 4th House
This position of Pluto is very difficult for natural disasters and inclement weather. Therefore insurance companies and local governments will find their reserves severely diminished. People will be required to rely on their own resources. Make sure your weather emergency supplies are in good order.
Solar spot activity will add to the weather problems. It appears that the Sun is at the height of its active cycle. Now is good time to photograph auroras. (read the article, Sunspot Explosion)

Pluto here suggests that this is the bottom of the real estate cycle. If you are shopping for bargain properties, the next three months could help you find a few investment opportunities.

Venus appears in the 4th House
Relax and stay close to home. It is a good time to rearrange your work space, try new recipes, explore the Internet. Everyone will enjoy their electronic toys, and enjoy communicating with their new devises. It is a good time to explore various online trading accounts and try their practice sessions.

Venus here promises winter wheat will have enough snow cover to survive a cold winter. Windy winter storms will keep electric line repairmen busy. Check the trees near your house.

Saturn appears in the 1st House
Cash is king according to Saturn in Libra and consumers demand quality products and service. Saturn in the 1st house insists that folks use their common sense and spend their cash carefully.

Creativity is in abundant supply therefore read and listen carefully for investment opportunities.

Neptune appears in the 5th House
Creative folks will find ideas easy to implement and share via the Internet. Investors will be wise to listen carefully and assist whenever they agree the idea is viable.

Speculators in the commodities markets are very busy. Prices for various commodities will rise and fall quickly during the trading day.

Uranus appears in the 6th House
Unusual work opportunities appear. Part-time jobs will often lead to full time employment during this time period.

Jupiter appears in the 7th House
The next three months promise an excellent time to form partnerships. Public Relations experts will find plenty of work. Doctors and lawyers will find clients particularly anxious for answers to their problems. Entrepreneurs will find individual investors ready to help and form new partnerships. It is a good idea to check your astrological calendars and record times and dates for any
suggestions of new enterprises.

Mars appears in the 12th House
Executives and top managers find retirement a good idea. Scandals concerning charity organizations and governments will find managers turning in their resignations. Employees are difficult to manage as a result. Private prison corporations will need to revise their business model as inmates refuse to cooperate.

Moon appears in the 2nd House
Markets remain volatile throughout the next three months. Index averages may rise and fall 1 to 2% daily. If you are day trading it is extremely important print the calendars on the astrologicalinvesting
blog
. (http://astrologicalinvesting.blogspot.com/search/label/calendar)

The labor market is improving with fits and starts. Workers will find plenty of part-time or contract jobs. Local governments find property tax revenues are difficult to collect.

Currency markets remain volatile and the Euro will continue to have problems. Most international banks are under severe stress. The whole banking industry will continue to find it difficult to attract customers seeking loans.

Mercury appears in the 3rd House
Increase in trade and work connected with shipping and communications. Imports and exports of intellectual material improve dramatically.

Fiscal Cents - Financial Astrology for Your Zodiac Sign

Kaye Shinker's Financial Astrology for Your Zodiac Sign - Your Astrological Horoscope and Financial Outlook.
During this Lunar month, November 25 through December 23, the spotlight is on the Zodiac signs of Sagittarius and early Capricorn.  The Sun is in Sagittarius, however it will enter the zodiac sign of Capricorn on December 24, during this Lunar month.

Happy Solar Return to Sagittarius Suns and early Capricorns

Happy Solar Return to Sagittarians born November 24 through December 21. The year ahead promises the opportunity to travel local and long distance. Be sure to enroll in classes that are not only fun, but profitable. It is a good time to repair your vehicles, all of them. This year you will need to review every decision, double check your receipts and expect to do everything twice. Ask for a new camera as a birthday present, you will find it a handy devise to carry with you throughout the year ahead. Adventures are promised.

If you are a Capricorn, born on December 22nd or December 23rd, Happy Solar Return! Throughout the year ahead you will concentrate on redecorating your business and personal space. It is important to spend the extra funds for high quality items when shopping for replacements. While researching investments throughout the year ahead consider the various real estate bargains available.

If you were born between November 24th and December 13th, you will have Mercury Retrograde in your Solar Return. If your birthday falls during the dates that Mercury is retrograde, expect to spend the year ahead doing everything twice. During Mercury Rx the most useful way to spend your time is to repair stuff, recycle stuff and reduce your stuff. It is also a good time to declare recess, and rejuvenate in another region of the country. When shopping, if it costs more than $20 you shouldn't buy it; but if you do, save the receipt.

Advise for everyone: December will find your attention focused on repairs for vehicles and machines at home or on the job. It is a good idea to read their maintenance manuals. Research on line before you call a repair person.

Household Hint: Quality is the new status symbol. Research online before you call a repair service.

On the web site you will find the article: Venus, Money in Your Chart; be sure to read it for directions on How to Construct An Astrological Treasure Chest.

This Month For Sagittarius
Before you leave your home double check the appointment or the invitation. Make sure your cell phone is charged and safely attached to its carrier. Save your receipts and avoid any purchase above $20. This is not a good time to start a new job or sign a contract. It is an excellent time to clean up and redecorate your living quarters.
This Month for Capricorn
It is your turn to have fun. Go to a free concert or stop and listen to a street musician. You even have permission to smile. Take a small risk and add a growth stock to your portfolio.

More for all other signs: Each Sun Sign has predictions of the challenges and successes for you during the month ahead in our Fiscal Cents column on the web site.

We suggest that you also read your Ascendant (your Rising sign), as well as your Sun sign on our web site - to read your sun sign's forecast on our web site go to: www.astrologicalinvesting.com/html/Fiscalcents.html.

The New Moon in Sagittarius, 2011

Astrological Investing will be in transition for a period of time due to the sudden passing of my dear friend and business partner Kaye Shinker. Although we worked together preparing articles and newsletters, Kaye was the creative author of the New Moon newsletter and Fiscal Cents. Most of the articles and blogs written for the web site and the blog were her writings. However, before her passing she had prepared the November, and December New Moon Newsletter, and Fiscal Cents, which I will share with you today and in December.  Additionally, Kaye had written the Winter Solstice for 2011 and the year ahead for Fiscal Cents which will be posted on the web site in December.
Read this New Moon report in it's entirety at www.astrologicalinvesting.com/html/newsletter.html
New Moon forecasts show the general trends and financial outlook for the month; below is some of what Kaye Shinker predicted for the month ahead.
New Moon in Sagittarius, Nov. 25, 20111 :10 AM EST
The New Moon appears in the 3rd House (refer to chart) Non USA members can set up a New Moon chart for the capital of their country. Textbook 4, page 30 of the Textbook For Financial Astrology, will help with interpretation the New Moon chart. (Note the house position of the New Moon in the chart in the capital of the country.)

Solar Eclipse at 2° Sagittarius
The event is visible from high latitudes in the Southern Hemisphere and includes southern South Africa, Antarctica, Tasmania and most of New Zealand ( NASA Eclipse web site.) These areas will feel the effect of the eclipse with increased geological activity and severe warm weather storms. Expect political change and unrest in this area. An eclipse seems to create a rip in the earth's magnetic field in the area where the eclipse is visible, therefore expect increased atmospheric activity.

Sagittarius New Moon
The focus of the Sagittarius New Moon is make sure that every vehicle purchased is covered by warrantees, and every educational opportunity is worth the time and energy required. Mercury is retrograde in the New Moon chart, therefore avoid purchasing big ticket items. It is also a good idea to save all of your receipts.

Super New Moon
The Moon is perigee or at its closest point in its orbit around the Earth. Super Moons often predict natural disasters such as severe weather, earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanic activity. Richard Nolle created the term "Super New Moon". Click through to his article and explanation of the term.

The weather forecast is grumpy. It is time to find your umbrella and boots or muffler, gloves and earmuffs. Now is the time to purchase a battery backed up surge protector and a generator.

Moon phases (for our subscribers who trade using phases of the Moon)
New Moon,  November 25, 2011, 1st Quarter Moon, December 2nd;  Full Moon, December 10th;  Last Quarter,  December 17th;  next New Moon, December 24, 2011.  (Read Randall Ashbourne's article, The Moods of the Moon - Trading the Mood Swings of the Monthly Lunar Cycle

November 24 - Mercury retrograde at 20° Sagittarius
Yesterday Mercury turned retrograde, therefore it is an excellent time to schedule vacation. Adventures are promised, but be sure to pack any carry-on luggage carefully. It is important to double check all appointments as well as times and dates for Holiday parties. Holiday gift shopping needs to be accomplished prior to the Mercury retrograde station. Mercury direct occurs December 14. Shoppers will find excellent bargains. Retail stores will be required to make drastic markdowns as folks naturally have difficulty deciding the exact item to purchase during the three weeks Mercury is retrograde.

It is best to avoid purchases of items over $20 while Mercury is retrograde. It is not a good idea to sign contracts, or purchase big ticket items. it is a time to do things that start with “re” . Example: read, recycle, repair, restore. During a Mercury Rx the markets slide up and down only to return to where they started 90% of the time.

Interesting note concerning the 2 degree Sagittarius eclipse: (Read The Textbook for Financial Astrology II, page 83.) The aspect pattern for the Dow Industrial Index is a kite. The Sun is the head of the kite, therefore the Dow is always trying to soar higher. The tail of the kite is the Moon, therefore the kite sometimes catches a downdraft and its flight path dips and dives. The Dow Index has the Moon at 2 Sagittarius. Expect the Index to dip and dive throughout the year ahead. Also expect a change in the mix of stocks in the Dow 30.

Companies with planets at 2 degrees Sagittarius will find the next year challenging.

December 10 - Lunar Eclipse at 18° Gemini
( NASA Eclipse web site.) Lunar eclipses are fun to watch. I consider them to be far less difficult than Solar Eclipses. As to markets they are usually non events, however combined with Uranus direct it could be a very exciting day with weather problems changing family celebration schedules. Keep your cell phone charged and handy.

December 10 - Uranus direct at zero Aries
Uranus direct does not indicate a change in market trends. Seventy-five per cent (75%) of the time the markets obtain a balance and do not move either direction for the few weeks surrounding the station point. However, this station is at the Aries Point simultaneously with the Lunar Eclipse. Fortunately December 10th is a Saturday!

Erratic weather is a problem, therefore the commodities markets will find traders anticipating short supplies of all items traded - particularly metals.

December 14 - Mercury direct at 3° Sagittarius - YEAH!! SHOPPING!

Jupiter trine Pluto at 5° Taurus / Capricorn (continuing)
Jupiter began an applying trine with Pluto starting with the Fall Equinox. It will end with the Spring 2012 Equinox.

Everyone will strive for personal success. Agriculture and Business will find plenty of work with energy to accomplish the goals they set. Business in emerging markets will remain successful throughout this time period.

The exact aspect marks an up market and the midpoint of an extended period of buyouts, mergers, and mega deals.

It is also a warning of bankruptcy among various financial institutions. It is very important to check the debt obligations of equities on your list of possible investments. Folks need to repeat the mantra "Cash is King" when judging investments and managing their own budgets.

The Sagittarius New Moon appears in the 3rd House (see chart above) The New Moon in the 3rd focuses attention on vehicles, elementary education, and neighborhoods. Folks are thinking about keeping their vehicles in good repair and considering whether it is cost effective to replace them. Neighborhoods are concerned about the quality of elementary education and will begin to organize ways to improve their schools. Internet sites that offer solutions will be popular. Labor and management find agreements difficult to obtain. Local government and medical institutions are particularly vulnerable to labor disputes.

Mercury appears in the 3rd House
The focus is reviewing transportation requirements and repairs of current vehicles. Neighborhoods are devoting their attention as to the best use of their tax dollars on elementary education as well as local transportation. Folks are evaluating the costs involved with their telephones, cable and internet contracts. They will prefer to pay less. Print publishers will find bankruptcy a viable option.

Venus appears in the 4th House
Events at home are the preferred way to celebrate this Holiday Season. Businesses that cater to home parties will be busy. Folks who are shopping for a new home will find an excellent selection of properties and friendly mortgage payment options. It is wise to not sign any paperwork before December 15th.

Mars appears in the 12th House
Employees in government, charity and the medical industry find working conditions difficult at best. Scandals continue to plague the industry adding to the number of job openings at the management level.

Jupiter appears in the 8th House
Tax collections improve and it appears that the insurance industry could earn a profit. CEO's and political leaders are retiring from their positions. Markets are volatile during this Mercury rx, then improve slowly as the month ends.

Carolyn Kaye Shinker, March 18, 1940 - November 18, 2011

In Memoriam

November 18, 2011. With deep sorrow I regretfully share the sad news that my friend and business partner, Kaye Shinker, has passed from this world.

Kaye loved teaching, it was her joy and her passion to share with others what she knew. We will all miss her wisdom. The astrological world has lost a great teacher who contributed much to the study of financial astrology as well as all she contributed to the world she lived in.

The web site will be in transition for a period of time. I can not promise what newsletters and mailings will be sent since Kaye was the author of the New Moon newsletter and Fiscal Cents as well as most of the articles and blogs written for the web site and the blog. However, before her passing she has written the November, December  New Moon, and the year ahead for Fiscal Cents, which I will share with you.  Additionally, Kaye has written the Winter Solstice for 2011 which will also be posted.

I feel truly lost without her and miss her very much.- Marley
