Gold, Euro, Dollar

Time to look at these charts again.

May 20, 2010 I posted a blog with the astrological charts for the Euro, the Dollar, and Gold. Now that 6 months have passed financial astrologers are still stuck on the same topic. The Euro has returned to +$1.35, the Federal Reserve has returned to its quantitative easing, and gold has surged to +$1350 per troy ounce.

Gold

As to transits there is very little stopping gold from moving up in price especially with the Sun moving from the MC to the Asc. Of course this transit is shown in the seasonal rise of gold prices during the holiday season. Saturn squares Mercury and itself during December thus keeping speculation rather tame but Jupiter is making aspects to every planet as it moves into Aries. Feb 2012 is the deadline for goldbugs when they will have to make sure firm stops are in place. There are a lot of nuances in between where traders can jump in and out of gold with a chance for profits.

Euro

Problems with the Euro in November are the result of Jupiter square the Euro Moon along with Mars adding energy to the changes while he makes a conjunction to Pluto and Mercury. Mars and the Euro just do not like each other and every time Mars is conjunct one of the Euro's planets the Euro becomes nervous and loses a few cents. However the Euro and Jupiter get along just fine. The Euro likes a good Jupiter transit. Therefore the Euro will solve the problems of the public's perception that members are not able to pay the interest on loans made to the banks of member countries.

Jupiter was sextile Neptune through out August, the sextile Venus and square the Moon through October and in December it will be sextile Venus. Transiting Saturn square the Sun in trine Uranus has kept the price in a narrow range. Jupiter makes a string of positive aspects to the Euro planets through the first 6 months of 2011.

Dollar

Neptune is finally leaving the conjunction to the USA Pluto and therefore the dollar may revive its status as a reserve currency. QE2 occurred Nov 10 with Venus conjunct its Sun and Mars conjunct its Venus therefore the concern that the markets are flooded with excess dollars. Jupiter transits January-July 2011 seem to show an increase in the value of the dollar. This increase may very well be connected to the price of oil since Neptune is sextile Jupiter and Mars throughout this period of time. Natural gas and other green energy products may reduce the price of oil and therefore increase the value of the dollar.

Conclusion:

I think that after the January 4th solar eclipse the Dollar will hold its value through June. Lower oil prices will contribute to its value. The Euro will remain stable with their Central Bank slowly increasing the amount of Euro's available. Gold prices will move up slowly and remain below $1500 per ounce. What a Difference a Trine Makes!

It was around 10:00 am when Saturn sat on the Ascendant of the chart for New York City.  (chart posted in this morning's blog, "Investor Fear and the Grand Cross")  The energy of the hour then was all about investors seeking safe, solid ground based on fear and worry regarding the morning's latest reports on unemployment and the economy in general.

The DOW dropped dramatically as Saturn tightened the purse strings of  Wall Street investors.  But then as time moved on into the afternoon things changed!

What happened?

In these two charts you can see exactly when the sentiment changed from fear to a more relaxed state of mind as Neptune dissolved these fears.

Saturn had moved off the Ascendant and MidHeaven (medium coeli or MC) axis and was now in the rule-breaking 11th house.  A house  symbolically known as a place of  "hopes, dreams and desires" ( And sometimes the place where rules can be broken in terms of acheiving our goals with a little help from our friends and associates!) 

More importantly however, at 1:51 pm ET, the Moon in Gemini  (now in the 8th house of money held or managed for others)  made two nice easy-flowing aspects to the chart of New York -  a trine to Neptune and minutes later a sextile to the MC.  Sextiles offer opportunity, and trines make opportunity knock.

Notice in the chart that Uranus and Jupiter had moved into the 5th house of speculation, risk taking, gambling, and stock market trading.  Investors began looking for creative ways to find profits - less concerned with the over-all risk and perhaps a bit over-confident about their investment safety with Jupiter's square to Pluto in the 2nd house.

King Dollar ?

King is a Tough Position to Play.

When you are on the top everyone knows which way to aim their arrows. In this case it is almost prosaic. The dollar has Jupiter at 28 degrees in its ruling sign Sagittarius. Artists love to paint the symbolism of the sign. Half horse and half man drawing a bow with an arrow aimed at the sky. See Llewellyn 2010 wall calendar page for December 2010.

The Astrological Problem

The problem is transiting Saturn opposed transiting Uranus both squaring the Dollar's Jupiter on April 26, 2010. When planets are opposed to each other they can see each other but they can't hear the words the other speaks. Structures (Saturn) can see dramatic change (Uranus) but the structures cannot understand why Uranus insists on changing the neat and tidy way things are at this moment. Both are squaring the Dollar's Jupiter and challenging his dominance. Arrows are aimed from both directions at Jupiter.

Saturn opposed Uranus

November 4, 2008 the opposition of Saturn to Uranus was at 18 Virgo/Pisces (bail out the banks), February 5, 2009 the opposition was a 20 Virgo/Pisces (bail out the autos) and September 15, 2009 the opposition was at 24 Virgo/ Pisces (unemployment). April 26, 2010 is opposition #4 with #5 July 26, 2010 on the Aries point sometimes called the World Axis. Up to this point the opposition seems to have stirred the world of politics and the world of economics with the exposure of scandalous behavior of financial experts concerning the creation of unsustainable debt.

Debt Crisis

Neptune and Jupiter made a conjunction on the Dollar's Pluto December 21, 2009. Discussions concerning the mounting debt of the taxpayer have flourished. Every financial guru has lectured endlessly on the topic with circles and arrows that look like a football coach's play book. Financial reporters have worn out the zero key on their keyboard trying to explain the actual amount of indebtedness to the public. Dollar Squared

The Dollar's new problem is squares. The opposition is applying to a square with Jupiter earned income. Jupiter represents money gathered in stacks. Example your monthly income. The Dollar is challenged to gather enough momentum to maintain its stacks. Jupiter in Sagittarius has plenty of arrows in his quiver but only one in his bow. He has to aim with precision at either the old structures or the disruptive constantly changing ones. Should he aim at Europe or Asia, the banks or technology, exports or imports.

Neptune conjunct the USA Moon

The opposition is challenging Jupiter's power, his energy and his ability to expand. The square is forcing the action. Simultaneously transiting Neptune is applying to a conjunction with the USA Aquarius Moon. Continued expansion of debt is the topic of the blog-a-sphere. Will Jupiter live to fight another day? HMMM. Saturn opposed Uranus will square the Dollar's Mars July 26,2010 two weeks following the eclipse to the Dollar's Moon. Looks like all out economic war during the summer with opposite sides aiming at the Dollar's value.

War of the Titans

In mythology there is the 10 year war of the Titans where finally Jupiter defeats Saturn. Neptune gave his brother Jupiter a hand in the battle. Neptune the planet of deception is conjunct the Moon of the USA chart, maybe the USA public will be deceived by the financial Titans and yet again willingly add to their debt. They could also take the challenge of the square and fight the Titans with the courage of Jupiter. However, Mercury is Retrograde and deception is rampant. Joseph Campbell tells the story in The Masks of the Gods or you can Google it for a rough outline of the tale.

? Whether to play the Dollar long or short. Answer: Don't play Mercury is retrograde. There are three inflation hedges; precious metals, vacant land, and stocks. USA Dollar

Shanghai Daily offered the opinion that there are not enough dollars in the world to buy U.S. Treasuries.  This is probably truer than anyone would like to admit. The reason Jupiter and Neptune are conjunct the Dollar's Pluto.  I've mentioned this a few times on our blog stating that it is probably a huge problem for the value of the dollar.  

During the past week the value of the dollar has increased several cents against the Euro. Which would make sense with Jupiter applying to a conjunction to the dollar's Pluto therefore increasing the power of the dollar.  Neptune conjunct the Pluto of the dollar gives the illusion that the dollar is powerful. When Jupiter leaves the conjunction in early January it will square Saturn then oppose Uranus. The 2009 year end expansion of the value of the dollar will come to a screeching halt waiting for news of an international dispute to send the illusion of its value up again as Jupiter makes a trine to Neptune then Mercury. 

However Neptune remains within the conjunction of the dollar's Pluto allowing the illusion of its power as the world's reserve currency in tact. Another way of expressing Neptune's influence would be volatile evaluations of its power resulting in chaotic trades in the currency markets. Gold, T. Bonds, and equities would be seen as safe havens and their valuations would increase.

The Illusion of Mortgage Backed Securities

The only comparison available would come from the opposite transit of Pluto conjunct the Neptune of a particular stock. One dramatic instance is the over leveraged bonds sold by Bears Sterns.  Bears Sterns was unable to cover the rapid requests for redemption of the bonds they packaged. The firm was sold to J.P. Morgan.

March 17, 2008 J.P. Morgan Chase purchased Bears Stern for $2 per share.  The Incorporation chart for Bears Sterns (Aug. 21,1985) has Pluto conjunct Neptune on that date.  Astrologically the energy sounds like it is the same Pluto and Neptune are together creating the illusion of power or giving power to an illusion.  A few financial companies organized in 1985 have survived but their stock prices are in the single digits. 

It is interesting to contemplate the possibilities.

HAPPY SOLAR RETURN USA

Nations have Birthdays therefore they can also have a Solar Return.  I use the USA July 4, 1776 5:10 pm LMT Philadelphia, Pa. chart originally calculated by Sibley. Sibley heard about the Declaration of Independence several months after the event, calculated the chart and then published it.  It seems to work very well with events in the life of the nation.

The USA solar return for 2009 has the Sun in the 4th house. The nation will examine their basic values and make significant changes in lifestyle. Folks are taking responsibility for their own home and family and very proud of this accomplishment. Back to basics will be the mantra for retail advertising.  

The Solar Return Moon appears in the 8th house placing the USA natal Moon in the 11th. Change happens in the areas of taxes, insurance and the attendant paper work. The country seeks and finds new alliances as the problems of old friends affect international decisions. 

Mercury in the 3rd suggests problems with local travel and transportation. The auto industry has failed to consider their customers and prevailing demand for smart cars. There will be an emphasis on short classes where basic new skills are acquired. Portable electronics will dominate the landscape. 

Venus in the 2nd explains that personal income will be spent on practical clothing and decorative arts. The population continues to toss money in their savings accounts.  Americans pay cash for necessities. Debit cards are in fashion.

Mars in the 1st 

Everything is in a turmoil. Excess energy expresses itself with patriotic gatherings and concern for energy sources.  Folks will not be shy about their concerns for the environment and practical application of science to reduce energy consumption. Many will find ways to combine various resources in order to reduce the cost of utilities .

Jupiter is conjunct Neptune in the 11th.   The 11th is Congress in a nations horoscope. Both planets are retrograde, suggesting that legislators will have a difficult time trusting members to vote along party lines. Reliable legislators renege on their promises to their party in favor of their constituents.  (The congress will find Blue Dog democrats have returned) Secrets abound and therefore rumors of scandals will emerge, however the facts will not be known until next July. 

Saturn in the 6th forces everyone to work hard

Unemployment continues to be a problem, however many find constructive work in their own neighborhood.  Folks accomplish many improvements tearing down and building up with cash labor. Uniformed personnel are stressed and need to take care of their health, and get proper rest. Various strains of flu are ready to invade during the winter months. Those who have neglected to balance work and rest will be vulnerable.  Problem is Spring of 2009 and the swine flu failed to infect great numbers of people.  Now the "Chicken Little" syndrome is in effect as average folks ignore government health warnings.

Uranus in the 12th has folks deciphering secrets to create original money making schemes. Surprise they are demanding no help from government. Fear of diseases that are difficult to diagnose creates nervous tension.  The government makes a number of dramatic announcements to divert the attention of the population. UFO's are exposed? 

Mysterious forces are controlling world events. 

Pluto in the 9th suggests that international underground groups have devised a number of ways to undermine the world economy.  Many of their plans are successful. Folks put their plans for the future on hold as popular opinion insist that changes this time must be practical and useful. September is particularly rough. See Solstice report

Part 2 Easy Predictions with Solar Returns

Jupiter and Neptune conjunct the USA Moon.  Wisdom is tested and spiritual and emotional needs need to be kept within bounds. The conjunction also indicates a Religious Revival of US Citizens who finally recall the reasons for the 1st Amendment to the Constitution.

Mercury conjunct natal Venus. Assets are pointed out and the USA image is polished. Media attention is focused on the value of the dollar in relation to the other currencies. Diplomacy as well as good manners work for a change as kind words to others are taken as sincere.

May New Moon: Jupiter and Neptune

Jupiter and Neptune are together in the Second House of Money. 

May New Moon report has the following paragraph explaining the economics of the month of May

Optimistically:  This Jupiter will expand the earnings of the populace, the bankers, the financial folks. The problem of too much earned income is solved with creative accounting. Creativity will abound and clever ideas will be monetized. Loans to banks will be paid back quickly.Local taxes will decrease because of pressure from local merchants.

Pessimistically: Bank failures will continue to make headlines. Too much money causes chaos in the monetary system. The amount of money in the system is confusing and creativity for its use abounds among purveyors of fraudulent schemes. There will be investigations and reporting of white collar criminals as well as common but clever thieves.

Scandals Abound

It looks like there is a huge scandal brewing concerning the bond holders at Chrysler and the Tarp money for the Banks. It seems that a lot of threats of smearing names as well as theoretically holding a gun to the heads of the executives of the various corporations and banks involved.  Scandals are emerging right before the Mercury Rx. That means the financial reporters will have to write and rewrite.  Some ugly rumors are sneaking out the back door of the White House and others are falling down the stairs of Congress. The reporters for the financial journals will have to write E Books to help everyone keep up with the breaking news about who is in trouble this week.

Will We Rescue the Car?

I asked an elderly friend if she could remember what it was like when automobiles began to take over the economy. She explained that it was very difficult for folks who delivered products with horse carts and mechanics like her dad had to adapt to a new business.

Economic Woes Repeat 

The economic woes of the Auto industry dominate the headlines.  They dominate the discussions on the net and even of folks waiting in line for a burger at Micky D's. What will replace these venerable icons of personal transportation and freedom of movement? Pluto in Capricorn is changing business models with dramatic intensity just as it did at the beginning of the previous century when it entered Cancer. Would you have purchased stock in the strange new company General Motors in 1916? It has Pluto at 4 degrees Cancer.

Once upon a time at the turn of the last century Pluto entered Cancer and the automobile was invented. Buggy whip makers went out of business. Horseshoer's had to learn a new trade and construction engineers studied Roman roads to design highways and bridges that held the weight of ten ton trucks. Dozens of companies formed to manufacture cars, trucks, and all of their component parts in order to provide all of us with personal transportation. By the way more than 50 of these companies still trade on the New York Stock Exchange.

Will Folks Invent a New Economy?

Once upon a time as a matter of fact January 2008, Pluto entered Capricorn and the entire economy once again began to change. But what is this creative new invention?  Will we find it soon? Clues will be revealed throughout 2009 as the world economy grasps the creativity of the Aquarius Neptune expanded by the Jupiter conjunction and revealed by Chiron.

Chiron the centaur is half man half beast. He is the maverick, the teacher and the healer. He says step outside the box, learn everything possible about the topic and then use your knowledge to fix the problem. It appears he is set up to help us through this economic transition.

It is a Tough Transition. 

This is the beginning of the economic revolution. We need to survive with creativity and ingenuity and some good old fashion intense study. It is time to do your homework, and the Jupiter, Chiron, Neptune conjunction is yelling in all caps. Jupiter the salesman is expanding the lessons of Chiron the great teacher. Even Science is Getting Into the 2012 Act

Space weather forecasters have determined that 2012 will be the Solar Maximum and therefore the earth's electrical grid is in danger of a meltdown due to Coronal Mass Ejections. It is true and it has happened before. The most dramatic case occurred in 1859 when a solar flare lit up the sky and then melted telegraph wires.

I'm sure more stories like this one will appear throughout the Internet as well as mainstream print media.The media must rush these stories because it appears they do not look at the graphs provided by Spaceweather.com. Coronal Mass Ejections usually occur within months of a solar minimum. An astrologer looks at the charts for these events and can see that Jupiter is on the way to making a conjunction with one or more of the outer planets.

Astrological Investing will keep you informed via the New Moon Newsletters and Blogs. The next three years are filled with danger signals as the outer planets move through a series of conjunctions and oppositions. During May 2009 the Mercury retrograde period includes conjunctions of Jupiter, Neptune and Chiron. This three week period signals some very difficult planetary configurations with a history of creating solar storms. Solar Flares often miss 'target' planet earth, but every one is worthy of our attention.

The Astrology of Solar Storms
Historically Jupiter and Neptune conjunction with Mars square the conjunction signals damaging solar flares. If you follow the graph of the Sun Spot cycles you will find that Jupiter is in the same sign as Saturn or Neptune at the height of sun spot activity. Usually Mars is square the conjunction.
May 27, 2009 Jupiter and Neptune are making conjunctions squared by Mars. The first conjunction is often very difficult. The retrograde conjunction happens July 20th with the heliocentric conjunction September 19 near the equinox and the last geocentric conjunction on Dec. 21st on the solstice.

Recent Signs of Astronomical Pressure
The power of both planets moving toward a conjunction has so far ignited two volcanoes with significant ash plumes. There are also three volcanoes threatening to erupt. Ash fertilizes the soil where ever if falls but also creates additional rainfall and cool weather.
The ash from a volcano damages mechanical objects. In Alaska the folks protect the engines of their cars and machines from the ash fall of the Redoubt volcano by encasing engine parts with pantyhose. Geomagnetic storms are not so easy. They destroy the circuits that operate communication devises, satellites and electrical systems. Various studies of Sun activity suggest remarkable Solar flares will melt the component parts of electrical systems.

I lived in Alaska 10 summers and was fascinated by the bright auroras therefore I researched the astrology, science and mythology of Sun Spot cycles as well as Solar flares. Neptune Hoists Red Flags

Fraud at every level of society is rampant, Neptune is in a really bad mood and Jupiter isn't helping.
News analysts and reporters have reported numerous scandals and Ponzi schemes throughout the past few months. They summarize the reports with the warning that you must make your own decisions, remember to be diversified and if it SOUNDS too good to be true it probably IS.

The Astrology
Current transits for the world are Jupiter applying to a conjunction with Neptune and Chiron. In addition Neptune is transiting the USA Moon (public) until February 2012. The public is susceptible to fraud, and deceit and Saturn is forcing transparency as it travels past the USA Neptune and to a conjunction with the USA Saturn . The USA 4th of July chart has suffered since November when Saturn applied to the USA Neptune and Neptune applied to the USA Moon.( July 1979 and July 1980 were the previous transits of Saturn to USA Neptune.)

The exposure of scandals are just getting started. Whenever Mercury is direct new scandals will be exposed. Sometimes they will make the national news, but local businesses are not exempt.
