What a Difference a Trine Makes!

It was around 10:00 am when Saturn sat on the Ascendant of the chart for New York City.  (chart posted in this morning's blog, "Investor Fear and the Grand Cross")  The energy of the hour then was all about investors seeking safe, solid ground based on fear and worry regarding the morning's latest reports on unemployment and the economy in general.

The DOW dropped dramatically as Saturn tightened the purse strings of  Wall Street investors.  But then as time moved on into the afternoon things changed!

What happened?

In these two charts you can see exactly when the sentiment changed from fear to a more relaxed state of mind as Neptune dissolved these fears.

Saturn had moved off the Ascendant and MidHeaven (medium coeli or MC) axis and was now in the rule-breaking 11th house.  A house  symbolically known as a place of  "hopes, dreams and desires" ( And sometimes the place where rules can be broken in terms of acheiving our goals with a little help from our friends and associates!)

More importantly however, at 1:51 pm ET, the Moon in Gemini  (now in the 8th house of money held or managed for others)  made two nice easy-flowing aspects to the chart of New York -  a trine to Neptune and minutes later a sextile to the MC.  Sextiles offer opportunity, and trines make opportunity knock.

Notice in the chart that Uranus and Jupiter had moved into the 5th house of speculation, risk taking, gambling, and stock market trading.  Investors began looking for creative ways to find profits - less concerned with the over-all risk and perhaps a bit over-confident about their investment safety with Jupiter's square to Pluto in the 2nd house.

Investor Fear and The Grand Cross

The 10 o'clock hour on Wall Street - Dow Jones Industrial Avg.
"The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 148 points to 10526 points and a surge in demand for Treasurys pushed the yield on the 10-year note to its lowest level in more than a year. The Nasdaq Composite slid 1.3% to 2263. The Standard & Poor's 500-stock index fell below its 200-day moving average, tumbling 1.4% to 1110." WSJ AUGUST 6, 2010, 1:31 P.M. ET

In these two charts  you can see that the market dropped dramatically as Saturn was exactly conjunct the Ascendant at 10:03 am.  Pluto was in a transiting formation conjunct the IC and square the ASC.

Sun in Taurus - Holy Cow!

"The cows are our friends, they give food, they give strength, they likewise give a good complexion and happiness," said Gautama Buddha
icon-Taurus April 19th is Orthodox Easter. Throughout the Orthodox Christian world Easter tables will offer various delectable dishes, inspired by certain traditional Orthodox recipes. Easter lamb is, of course the quintessential dish. However, while they celebrate Easter and feast on lamb, this day marks the arrival of a Bull....the Sun's entrance into the sign of Taurus the Bull at 6:44:24 pm.

For a chart set in New York at 6:24:24 pm, Libra is rising and the Sun in Taurus is in the 7th house. Venus, ruler of Taurus and Libra is in Pisces, exalted, and she rules the chart! What a glorious day to celebrate Orthodox Easter.

We wish all who celebrate a Joyful and Happy Easter.

Patient, and practical Taurus, the Bull has immeasurable energy but is slow to act and capable of waiting a long time for plans to mature. Never try to push a Bull around! He can be obstinate, some may say stubborn (!) and terribly enraged when pushed, although he is an amenable creature when appealed to in the right way.

Those of us who are born under the sign of Taurus, or live with someone born between April 20 to May 21 (dates depend on the year and adjust for the calendar correction for Leap Year) understand how necessary it is to appeal to Taurus the "right" way!

The symbol for Taurus is a full Moon (a circle) which on top is placed a crescent Moon (for the horns). The Moon is exalted in Taurus because the bull symbolizes fertility, as well as stability which is extremely important for the Moon.

The New Moon in Taurus is Friday, April 24 at 2:46. Astrological Investing will post Kaye Shinker's New Moon Predictions on that day as well as Fiscal Cents, a monthly sun sign forecast that gives predictions for the month beginning on each new moon. (Our subscribers receive these reports earilier, and if you would like to read them before the new moon, please subscribe to our newsletter.)

Astrological Investing - Site of The Week!

Astrological Investing has been featured as the Site of the Week at astrologywizard.com. Here is what astrologer Paul Wade said: "As I write it seems many don’t have the cash to invest anymore, so clearly those that do must be more careful than ever. Here’s a site established to explain how astrology helps investors reach the right decisions, with lots of information for the casual surfer and with more available after you complete their free registration."

So, okay...for those who do like to play the market, and have the cash - Just a reminder about the markets - When Venus changes directions there is a reversal in the market momentum 80% of the time, just as there was (if you look at the charts)when Venus turned Rx.

We are at the end of the Rx period, with Venus stationing direct today.

I am expecting a brief decline, followed by a rally up ever mindful that we are still within a Bear Market multi-month rally that started when Venus stationed Rx.

When Mercury changes directions there will be volatility at both of the stations, May 7, stationing retrograde - May 30 stationing direct.

Given the long term outlook of the planets for 2009, one could use any rally to take profits and acquire cash...still not trusting any rally and keeping close watch and/or use stop losses.

For more in depth information about the astrological outlook for the stock market read Randall Ashbourne's The World At Large, January 2009 where he states:

"World stock markets remain trapped within a Bear market which currently seems unlikely to finish or find a final “bottom” before 2010 at the earliest."

He gives us key dates to watch that likely will coincide with key reversals in stock markets in the next few months - June 6 & 26, July 8 to 15

April Fool! Venus Rx T-Square Pluto, Moon

Expose Yourself to ArtSorry... It's not so funny for you who may have a natal planet or point at 3 or 4 Cardinal in your natal chart!

The Moon changes signs today as she ingresses into the cardinal zodiac sign of Cancer. At 6:06 pm EDT today the Moon will exactly oppose Pluto in Capricorn and together they will form a T- square to Venus retrograde at 4 Aries.

Venus rules the value of stocks, and the market is surely in for a bumpy ride.

The day begins with Moon square Uranus at 1:48 am, then a trine to Neptune at 5:03 am before she goes Void of Course during the NYSE trading hours. The first aspect she makes after her entrance into Cancer is the opposition to Pluto, then an exact square to Venus at 7:28 pm EDT.

Unpredictable market fluctuations occur during Void of Course Moons, and it is never a good day when Luna makes such harsh aspects. I imagine overnight trading will react from the T-square as well. And since we are half-way through the Venus Rx period, it is expected that the market will continue this pull-back that began last Friday.

About the photo -
I was always sure that the photographer who shot this photo had something completely different in mind, but back in the early 80's when I saw the poster hanging on display, all I could see when I looked at it was Pluto exposing himself to Venus! I cracked up laughing at the irony, and felt compelled to purchase a copy for myself.

It wasn't until recently that I discovered the real story behind the photo... and a regular Venus Retrograde experience to discover the history of a piece of "art" that one has owned for a while!

It is an actual photo of a popular political figure from Portland, Oregon. Bud Clark, who served as Mayor of Portland from 1985 to 1992, and was known for his eccentric behavior. Expose Yourself to Art was taken and widely distributed before he ran for Mayor; however the poster did nothing to deter his winning the election. He astonished the incumbent, Frank Ivancie, who had not taken Mr. Clark seriously as an opponent. Ivancie mocked Clark saying (his) "only claim to fame is exposing himself to a downtown statue."

According to the photographer, Michael Ryerson, who took the photo, "Bud was very active on the Venereal Disease Action Council, and he wanted to make a poster drawing attention to their cause. The Council had produced a T-shirt to promote awareness in the high schools, which at the time had an alarmingly high level of this problem. It was titled "Zap the Clap," which was on the T-shirt he was wearing (under the overcoat.)"

Although the poster now hangs on an attic room wall, it once hung in my bedroom. I can't remember if Venus was Retrograde back when I decided it needed a spot on my bedroom wall, but it must have been. The rule we astrologers give to our clients who are interested in decorating their homes is to never buy anything during Venus Rx, because you have a good chance of buying something that lacks good taste.

Still...I think it's funny.

Michael Munkasey Database

Michael Munkasey's work has long been an invaluable asset to the astrological community.

In May 2008, Mr. Munkasey received the Marion D. March Regulus Award for Discovery and Innovation and Research - an award that recognizes those who have developed new tools or concepts to advance the study and practice of astrology.

With great sadness, we have been informed that the cost to continue updates to his database - at an exorbitant amount of approximately $1,300 per month - has resulted in a decision to end to his updates.

The AMEX was purchased by the NYSE last October, and as of March 2, 2009, they have been integrating their web actions and information into the NYSE web site. AMEX data used to be free, but as of March 2, 2009 it charges $300 per month for access to this formerly free data. The NYSE cut off its free data over a year ago and (now charging $500 a month), and the NASDAQ cut off their free data about three years ago (now charging $500 per month).

His work was very, very much appreciated. It will be a tremendous loss for all the financial astrologers of the world.

Michael Munkasey's Company Data will still be able to be purchased on our website, but only with updates through March 2009.

Sun in Pisces - What a Day for a Day Dream..

My age is probably showing, but since the Sun entered Pisces on February 18th, I've found myself singing lyrics to the song, "Day Dream", by the Lovin' Spoonful; and I can't get the song out of my head!

"What a day for a day dream,

What a day for a day dreamin' boy.

And I'm lost in a day dream..."

Venus turning retrograde March 6th strikes a chord with the irony found in the second verse...

"And even if time is passin' me by a lot,

I couldn't care less about the dues you say I got.

Tomorrow I'll pay the dues for dropping my load.

A pie in the face for being a sleepy bull toad. "

In this Bear market, how much dues do we have to pay for being sleepy BULL toads!

Venus ruler of Taurus, rules our values and money; and in financial astrology, Venus rules the value of stocks.

83% of the time significant trading cycles will unfold within four days of Venus retrograde. (read Raymond Merriman, The Ultimate Book on Stock Market Timing, Volume 3: Geocosmic Correlations to Trading Cycles )

On our web site, (Financial Articles, The World At Large January 2009 report ), Randall Ashbourne makes us aware that March 7th to the 8th are dates likely to coincide with a key reversal in the stock market.

We can't let unrealistic hopes and dreams - naturally representative of Pisces energy - allow us to be loose with our money in the market, especially now!

Take advantage of any rally but keep your stops tight!

Is it possible that we are incapable of waking from our daydreams this year?
You may want to read Kaye Shinker's article The Money in Your Chart and Jupiter and the Money In Your Chart, Part II of Money in Your Chart to discover how your horoscope can help you profit from the economic crisis.

"And you can be sure that if you're feelin right

A day dream will last a long time into the night.

Tomorrow at breakfast you may prick up your ears,

Or you may be dreamin' for a thousand years"....

Star Light , Star Bright -Venus in Aries !

For a Venusian, tonight's Venus in Aries - who desires to be Numero Uno - sure does shine bright enough to be the Only One!

If you haven't noticed, Venus is shining brighter than any star in the sky tonight. And what is extraordinary is that she, like the Moon, is in her Crescent phase.

Odd, isn't it? Because when the Moon is the fullest, Luna is at her brightest.

But the crescent phase of Venus occurs when Venus is closest to Earth; therefore, only then is she her brightest.

She is very big and bright tonight. I hope you go out and enjoy her beauty.

The full phase of Venus, occurs when Venus is on the opposite side of the Sun. Then she is appears much further away... and dim comparatively.

Welcome to Astrological Investing's Blog

Welcome to Astrological Investing's blog. We'll be blogging on current astrological events, financial astrology, and posting excerpts from articles found at our financial astrology articles page on the home site.

Each month when she sends the New Moon newsletter to subscribers, Marley will post the upcoming monthly calendars of daily planetary aspects for the NYSE, FTSE and the ASX time zones. (Even though these will be posted for your use, we still recommend having a Llewellyn Astrological Calendar, - and if you haven't purchased your 2009 calendar yet, it can be purchased from astrologicalinvesting.com's Amazon affiliated bookstore.)

For a while now, we have felt that Astrologicalinvesting.com really needed a blog - changing and updating the web site pages for a few paragraphs with astrological comments at random times is only easily done in a blogging format. Also, along with our blogging comes the ability for members and visitors to comment or ask questions.

We determined that 8:15 on Saturday February 21, 2009 would be the day to announce and launch the blog. (Click on the chart image to see it zoomed to full size.)

Launching the Blog and Chart Interpretation

What we really wanted, of course, was perfect timing for the initial launch of this blog. And being astrologers one would figure we would have control of our future and success with being able to choose the perfect timing, right?

Well there are limits in this mortal world - and perfection is hard to come by. And...well, from experience, we have learned that some of our best designs have been laughed at, not just by mortals, but by the Gods themselves - or whatever Supreme Power there is up there making sure that mere mortals are humbled if they dare aspire Hubris. (Of course, when we made our mistakes we learned the very hardest, first-hand way to do astrological research!)

Looking at an ephemeris for the year 2009, we found nothing resembling "Perfect" timing. Saturn's opposition with Uranus along with retrograde periods of Mercury and Venus threw out more than half the year!

And yet we felt strongly about the addition of this blog.

So, in the light of the astrological landscape, if we really wanted to launch a blog in 2009 - and we did - we felt we needed to give it our best shot in February when there would be a huge line-up of Aquarian planets, and an extraordinary cluster of mutual receptions.

Jupiter and Neptune in mutual reception being in each others traditionally ruled signs; Uranus and Neptune in mutual reception in each others modern ruled signs; Uranus in Pisces and Jupiter Aquarius in mutual reception in a mix of rulerships! Saturn and Mercury in each others traditionally ruled signs.

Also, the Saturn Uranus opposition would be separating.

Not a perfect chart, but one with plenty of promise.

The Aries Point - Looking at the chart you will see that the angles are at 0 degrees in Cardinal signs. Cardinal Points will add a thrust of "prominence" to the blog. The Aries Point (which is what 0 degrees Cardinal is called) certainly gives it a full promise of our blog being viewed!

Venus rules the chart with Libra on the Ascendant. Although Venus is not strong nor particularly happy in the zodiac sign of Aries (she is considered in "detriment" in Aries) all that is set aside, as she is lifted up and "accidentally" dignified by her angular presence in her Natural home, the 7th house.

The Moon, although decreasing in light, will progress to conjunct the N Node, Mercury, Jupiter, Mars and Neptune before she reaches the Sun; and she too, is also "accidentally" dignified by her 4th house placement; and Venus and La Luna are involved in very promising sextile aspects in the horoscope.

Venus sextiles Jupiter and Mars; while the Moon is exact sextile to the Ascendant, ruled by Venus.

The Sun is in the imaginatively creative sign of Pisces in the 6th house; after having moved away from his detrimental sign of Aquarius, he trines the MC. For those Fixed Stars enthusiasts, notice the Sun is conjunct a fortunate fixed star, Formalhaut. Formalhuat can bring eminence, fortune and power, "it is often linked with a destiny towards occult or religious affairs and is said by Ebertin and Hoffman to offer success for scientists and writers".

Uranus is also in the 6th. Uranus rules the internet and many astrologers agree it rules astrology.

We interpret the placement of the Sun and Uranus in the 6th as an indicator of the very fact that the blog will serve the needs of the astrologicalinvesting.com Home site - which is basically, a financial astrology teaching web site on the world wide web. Considering that the Sixth house rules High School education, and since we teach the basics of financial astrology - not at an "elementary nor university level" (and definitely not with the usual approach to understanding financial markets!), it seems fitting to have the Sun - and Uranus placed there.

Reminded of how much fun the 5th house is - a stellium resides in the 5th house - so we are planning to have some fun with this.

Gambling. Risk taking. Fifth house things. That is what astrologicalinvesting.com discusses on a regular basis - We talk about investments, enterprises, reducing our risk in the market, and taking chances; we bet that with a combination of fundamental and technical analysis in concert with astrology we'll get it right and make some money.

The fifth house is a money house and it has to do with taking care of what you have earned and risking it on your idea. (And personally we feel that making money is a fun idea!)

Jupiter in the 5th is strong conjunct Mars; sextile Venus, gives us much luck - and from those aspects give us the courage to go where some may fear to tread.

Jupiter conjunct Mercury in Aquarius. *Ahem* need we say more? This is a BLOG for goodness sake! We have big ideas and plan to tell you all about them! We expect to quench your thirst for knowledge - and learn some stuff too. :-)

Pluto in the fourth, prominently placed on the IC square the Ascendant reflects the dramatic changes we are making with our web identity. Pluto is sextile the Sun promising Power in the way we express ourselves, and offering opportunity for self renewal when necessary. Pluto in the 4th also gives Power at home - which is where we work, and want it. It's where we do our stuff and take command of things.

The Uranus Saturn opposition is separating. In Horary astrology separating aspects represent the past. Though this is not a horary chart, we hope that we have learned our lessons of the past; and the tension created by these two Lords in the 6th and 12th houses expresses our desire to serve and teach. Moving forward into the future with respect for what we have learned in the past.

And so...it is launched. February 21, 2009. 8:15 PM CST.
